Insurance Coverage.

I plan on getting married in July. I'm on my dad's insurance, Cigna. I was wondering if Cigna would drop me once I get married?

Yes every insurance is different however by law they are not required to cover yours pregnancy related costs since you are considered a Dependant on your parents insurance. It would be best to call and check with you insurance to make sure they do cover pregnancy related costs for dependants. For example is you call and ask if maternity costs are covered they may say yes because say you are on your fathers insurance, they legally have to cover those costs for his spouse, but not for his children so make sure you specify that you are a Dependant on the plan.

I'm 23, married and my parents insurance did cover the costs of my OB bills all I had to pay was the deductible and whatever out of pocket costs that they can make you pay for I think I paid around 3000 all together and the rest was covered but it may be different with different insurances

And miss_mom1 lying about being married to gain coverage is insurance fraud, which is a felony.

Yes with Obama care you can remain on your parents insurance until 26 even if you are married. However your baby cannot be covered under the same policy and will need to be put under your spouse. Also Obama Care will not cover pregnancy costs if you are under 26 and in your parents insurance! So that $20,000 hospital bill will be on you

Its a new law, your larents insurance will cover you until you are 26, married or not, but not your baby. You will have to tell the insurance you are married bc you have to change your name with them. Im 19 and married and on my parents insurance bc its better than my husbands

You can check.  I believe there is a federal mandate that you can remain on your parents health plan under you turn 26 even if you get married.  As for your baby,  your parents will probably need to show proof that they are the primary care givers for it.

At least this is what we have in mn.

Always best to call your health insurance.

With the new Obama Care my understanding is that you can stay on your parents insurance until your 26 I believe. I am not expert so please don't quote me but I got married in 2012 had a baby in 2013 and am expecting again 10/1 of this year I've been on my parents insurance since before I got married and have had no problems but your baby won't be covered under your parents insurance

My parents insurance didn't drop me after I got married. They covered my bills, but not any of the baby care. I think it depends on your age and if you're in college....call and find out! Hopefully it does!
