lol i asked em right when they told me to walk through. i was like 'HEY! i'm pregnant. will this hurt my baby?!" and they were like "no ma'am its perfectly safe." but just ask anyways. i felt kinda silly cuz i was only like nine weeks at the time and couldn't see a belly, but i didn't care. didn't want my baby getting Xrrayed lol
Like JoyRenee said if you are concerned just voice your opinion. I was flying a couple months back & they noticed I was pregnant & asked me if I felt safe walking thru the metal detector & if not they would just take me to the side & use the hand held on me that way they could stay away from my belly!
If you're concerned you can voice your concern at the airport. Then they may have to do a search on you.
A metal detector is not an X-ray. There's no radiation involved.
I'm 6 months pregnant now, and 2 months ago I travelled by air to visit family in Massachusetts and I walked through a buncha metal detectors and my baby is perfectly fine.
Pregnant women travel all the time.
No need to worry.
It's X-Rays n stuff like that that is harmful to the baby.
it's fine....thousands of woman walk through, around or near metal detectors everyday.
