Large Dog Breeds

Does anyone else have large dogs in their home while expecting? I have 4 American Pit-Bulls, 3 males & 1 female. I was wondering how you plan (or do) tend to the animals while staying safe. Large dogs are very playful and get excited real easy. Right now I have 1 male in the house because he is fully trained..as much as an unpredictable animal can be trained.. but my fiance feels like we have to keep all the dogs outside all the time. Being that it is winter and cold here in NC I feel really bad for having my first babies out in the cold, but at the same time I know how wild they can be. How have you guys delt with the large animals in your lives while maintaining a healthy safe living environment for your family?

I read some where the other day that said to get some receiving blankets that are inexpensive and use them with baby in the hospital and then put them in the dogs kennel or dog bed or where ever the sleep so that they can get use to baby. I have a pit mix and a schnauzer and my pit is very protective of kids. She sleeps with my 10 yr old. The other day I looked up baby cries and played them just to kinda get her use to the sound and she was very curious even to the point where she was right up on my phone trying to figure out where the crying was coming from.

I have 3 pits and a rot, all inside dogs. We started training them at a young age not to jump on people. So no matter how hyper they get they don't jump on us.

I have a pit and with my first child, I would train him not to jump on me but still can lay by me. Gave him a lot of attention. When we had are baby we brought home the first little shirt they put on our child. Let him get used to the sent and he was wonderful around our baby. They are very protective of them u will be very impressed how good they are.

I have a pit bull she's 4 months bt big I dnt stress so much bt she is very active I jst hope by the time I have my baby she has calmed dwn bt she does have a cage and a gate up to block her out if need be

I have bull terrier. hes not a large dog but he stresses the crap outta me ever since I got pregnant he just doesn't listen to me anymore. I vaccume everyday and he drops sooo much fur it stresses me out. I love my dog!! but my baby comes first end of!! im looking at getting my dog fixed cos he has bitten my partner twice.

I have 2 pits. A male and female. My girl is still a pup at 7months old but im not to worried. My dogs know when its time to play and when not to. Ill be putting a babygate at the door to my daughters room so they can not enter if I don't want them to. My female sleeps in a cage at night and my male is so laid back I don't see him being an issue so I won't have to worry about them jumping up on the bassinet.

I dont personally, but my aunt rescues golden retrievers and she has two kids now. I baby sat for her when her first little girl was born & I HATED having 8 BIG dogs around constantly. It made me nervous. But because any of them were aggressive or anything, they just got way too excited  & would practacly knock you over. Not the best idea with baby in your arms. & They were all kept in the house at all times exept to go out to potty or walk/play.  Thank god she has a big house lol. On the bright side they were all very protective over her abd were surprisingly very gentle while they were near her. Maybe your dogs will be that way with your baby??  Good luck.

I have a male pit in he has a cage inside the house down the basement  and a built in cage outside so summer time he will be outside n winter he will be n his cage inside the house.
I also have 3 alligators in my house so I'm really cautious about that. But there dwn stairs n the basement n a tank.  They never got out b4 though so it should be safe.

I plan on moving with my bf in a apartment so that will be pet free :)

I live in raleigh NC && yes it is very cold lol I have a pit bull in the house but he's still a puppy, he's getting real big though && after a while he's gonna have to go outside bc that's what my father wants

I have a an American bulldoggie n he is huge I just don't let him jump on me he only 7 months but he is huge he stays in the house with us its too cold out he even shares the bed with us some times he is my other big baby I just show him lots of attention but still training him to not be so wild n jumpy he is learning  tho
