Late period, pregnancy symptoms, negative pregnancy tests

I am 18 years old. My last period was March 2. My period was due March 30 and it is now April 14. I had sex a couple of times between my last period and when my period was due. My period's are usually regular, so I don't know what happened this month. I have a feeling that I am pregnant but all the urine pregnancy tests keep coming out negative. I took 4 home ones and 2 at the doctors office. I've been cramping for the past 3 and a half weeks. I've been constipated, having lower back pain, urinating every couple of hours, bloated, and nauseous. Is it possible that I may still be pregnant?

I don't understand because I haven't been under any stress lately. Well, I have, but that was like a couple of days ago, WAY after my period was due. I was supposed to get an ultrasound yesterday, but when I got in, she changed her mind and gave me another pregnancy test, which of course, came out negative.

If I am pregnant, I would be 6 weeks pregnant right now which is why I keep thinking that if I were, wouldn't I have gotten a positive pregnancy test by now. CM? What's CM? And no I wasn't on birth control. I didn't use anything. And I keep asking her for a blood test but she keeps saying that I don't need one.

Also, do you know anything about Prometrium 200 mg?! Because my doctor thinks that my period is just late, so she prescribed me that. But I'm scared to take it in case I am pregnant. I don't even know anymore. I'm so confused. I think I'm pregnant but at the same time I don't. I'm having all the symptoms of a pregnancy, but with all the negative urine pregnancy tests, I just don't know anymore.

It's possible, but odds are that you aren't, since you are so far overdue and have not tested positive.  It's an unusual situation, I'm sorry you're having to deal with the stress of it.  I know it's got to be frustrating.

I'd say give your doc a call and see if you can schedule some tests to see what is going on with your body.  I know sometimes if you are suddenly and abnormally a month or more overdue for your period, sometimes they will do an ultrasound, just to be sure (it's possible to be one of the rare women who, when pregnant, never test positive or don't for months at least).

Then again you could be pregnant (delayed ovulation can throw off everything and have you not even due for a period yet!) and just not testing positive yet.  The symptoms you've been feeling can be pregnancy-related, or stress-related, or a number of other things.

Have you checked your cm?  were you on birth control?  have you had a blood test at the doc's office?  what's really dumb is that in *most* doctor's offices, the urine test they use is actually less sensitive than the early response home tests available in stores.  I know, it's completely pointless in my opinion, lol.  But it is what it is.

If you haven't had a blood test, I'd suggest calling and asking for one, and specify that you want a QUANTITATIVE test (not yelling, just don't have a "bold" button! lol).  If you don't specify, they'll run a qualitative, and that won't tell you what you'll need to know to figure it out (basically there is only a slight chance that a qualitative would show positive over a home urine test).

A quantitative is only barely more expensive than a qualitative and it will tell you exactly the level of hcg detected in your blood.  Usually they will not declare it positive unless it is over 25, but anything over a 5 is cause for further testing and is considered "inconclusive".  Basically it's a signal that something is up.  So a "quantitative" blood test can tell you a lot more.

Hopefully you get some answers soon.  Keep us posted, let us know if you think of anything else that might help us help you to figure out what's up for ya.  Hang in there!
