Metformin?

I don't have pcos, or endometriosis or diabetes but I have been ttc for almost a year and I am trying to research some things to talk to my doctor about when I go on Friday...I brought up Clomid but my dr. didn't like that idea and my friend said that her doctor put her on metformin (she has pcos though) and if not pregnant in a couple months, she is going on clomid...Does Metformin help you get pregnant?  Anyone who has any insight on this that is willing to share, it would be greatly appreciated!

Metformin is a diabetic drug that has been found to help women with PCOS regulate their hormones, therefore help them acheive pregnancy. Crazy hormones in a PCOSer cause cysts on the ovaries and can cause them to not ovulate. Metformin regulates those things so that MOST women begin to ovulate again.

Metformin is not the answer for you. Depending on what you're going through, Clomid is probably the best option. Just research it and discuss it again with your doc.

I'm new to Metformin (started in March).  I don't have pcos or diabetes or endometriosis, just my insulin is a little elevated, and that's why I am on it.  I've read that Metformin helps you ovulate so that you can conceive.
