Nausea medication?

Ok, I have heard that there are medication that you can take for nausea while your pregnant if they are prescribed by your doctor. I am trying to find out more about them any personal experience, if they are really safe while your pregnant?,Do they really help? I am 8 1/2 weeks pregnant with my 4 th baby have never been on anti nausea medication, but am really nauseated with this baby. I am nauseated from when i wake up i the morning till dinner time and am not really able to eat untl then, i am also having vomiting and am unable to even keep water down until after lunch. I do not think that this is healthy for my or the baby and have already lost 15 lbs (i am over weight, and losing weight in the beggining is normal for me, but i am still concerned i'm only 8 1/2 weeks) I see my doctor this wednesday  and will talk to her then about it, but I am wanting personal experience or opinions either way. Thanks

I was in the hospital for dehydration while pregnant because I had the flu on top of morning sickness. The doc asked what kind of gravol I was taking. When I told him none cuz the package said do not take while pregnant or breast-feeding. He said there s no problem to take it. He even said to take it as much as the recommended amount was to suppress the nausea.

I bought my sea-bands at CVS....but I understand they're also available at Walgreens, Target, and Wal-Mart....they're about $8 and it was TOTALLY worth it for me! I lost sooo much weight during the 1st trimester with my daughter even WITH phenergen (zofran never worked for me), but the rest of my pregnancy the nausea was bad but it became controllable by occasional meds. This one's been bad but not AS bad....i've still lost a good bit of weight though...

I agree that the meds are completely safe, too,

try the sea-bands though they ARE medication-free and there's nothing to lose considering how cheap they are...and if they work it will be SO nice for you! good luck I hope you feel better soon :) but just remember....lots of nausea is usually a good sign! (although for those of you with no morning sickness, plenty of healthy pregnancies occur with no nausea :) ).

The meds are safe.  There is Phenergan and Zofran.  Phenergan makes you really sleepy.  Zofran doesn't make you sleepy but can constipate you.  It did me really bad.  But the meds are safe.  I was actually in the hospital w/ my last baby because I couldn't keep anything down like you.  There are many different severities of the nausea.  Some people just get a bit nauseated.  But for some of us, it is much, much worse.  It's like having a stomach virus for weeks.  If you can eat in the evenings, that is something.  Mine was 24/7.  Mine was so bad, I would actually get up in the middle of the night to throw up.

I've had 6 babies now and have taken anti-nausea meds w/ almost all of them.  They are perfectly safe.  They just work for some and don't work for others.  I can tell you that they don't really help me much.  I hope if you decide to take them, that they work better for you.

I can make a few suggestions.  If you are able to eat at all, the small frequent meals is good.  If your stomach gets too empty, it's even worse if you can believe that.  I got a tea made by the Republic of Tea.  It's called Peach/Ginger tea and the ginger did help.  It had good flavor.  And of course you can drink it hot or cold.  There is caffeine in it but I had to make a choice between that or being able to keep something down.  Also try peppermint flavored ice cream.  Blue Bell only sells it during the holidays.  But there may be other brands that sell it all year long.  Ice cream shops like Baskin Robins / Marble Slab sell it all year long.  Try popsicles, jello, soups, etc.  Kind of like if you did have a stomach virus.  Oh and Jolly Ranchers (the candy) help as well.  I'd try those.  There is also something called Preggo Pops that you can find on the internet or Babys R Us.  That is the ONLY thing I didn't try, but only because I was just too sick to go to Babys R Us and get them.  Worth a shot though!

Good luck!  I know this part is just awful!!!  For me, it typically lasts until I am about 16 weeks along.  Maybe it won't last as long for you.

they give me phenergan when the nausea gets too overwhelming on occasion, but usually I use these sea-bands that, like tarajanes said, puts pressure on a point in your wrists and it REALLY helps!

There is medication that is safe during medication for severe nausea.  Your care provider should evaluate your situation on a case basis and see if the medication is right for you.

I suggest you drink something like clear teas (i.e. no black or brown teas) or clear decaffinated sodas like sprite or 7up to help ease the nausea.  Plain white bread works to help build a base in your tummy.  Neither of those things are ideal when you are pregnant, but if you are seriously unable to keep down even water you need to try something.  Hopefully this will help you cope better.

This pregnancy i was terribly sick from about 7 weeks way up to 13 weeks, its actually a good sign means there are plenty of hormones hcg which is good.i was so worried about this.over counter medicine not really recommended, snack thoughout day instead.you can also find these wristbands for travel sickness, they have a little ball on the inside which hits part of your wrist, wear them all time they worked wonders.
my concern would be you cant even hold down water.you may become dyhdrated.i would speak with your doctor.

My doc told me I could take the over the counter med called Emetrol. It worked and taste good too lol. Of course you should ask your doc before you take anything though. Mention it to your doc and see what they say about it.
