No amniotic fluid at 18 weeks.

I am 18 weeks pregnant, I found out today during an ultrasound that I have no amniotic fluid arond my baby. I belive that I have been leaking for the past week. I have been referred to a specialist, whom I wont see for a few days. The dr told me to drink plenty of fluids until I am seen .I believe in God, but I was told I might have to make a tough descision. I dont believe in abortion and I feel to terminate will be a form of that sort. Does anyone have any experience they would like to share or maybe some suggestions? Please and thankyou in advance.

Hi Jen. I lost my son in Dec 2011. He was diagnosed with skeletal dysplasia...where he had abnormal bone growth. We found out when I went for a 12 week u/s to check for down syndrome, trisomy 13 and 18. The doc wasn't sure exactly what was going on until that until that 16 week u/s; howvever, she told us at 12 wks that she cud look at the u/s and tell that something wasn't quite right, but just didn't know what is was. My actually OB sent me to a Maternal Fetal Doc to get the u/s because they we're equipped with the same equipment to p[erform a more in depth u/s. The Maternal Fetal doctor is the one who actually found out whta was wrong. I was seeing both my regaular OB and the specialist for my entire preg. My fluids was low and they had me drinking ensure to try to help boost up my fluids. The Maternal Fetal doc tried to get me to do a aminio, but I refused b/c of the disadvantages of it. They actually tried to get me to aborth as well, but I didn't. I continued to pray and ask God to led me in the right direction and I just kept going thru out my preg. On my last doc visit, I found out that my baby had a heart defect as well and was scheduled to go see a pediatric cardiologist in a week; however, my water broke that night and I had the baby @ 33wks. Unfortunately, my baby didn't survive b/c he's lung were not strong enough. I feel the same as do .....My husband nor I wanted to abort, and felt that we gave our baby all we cud; howwver, we realize that God had a better plan. I was able to hold him any we also had a small buriel service.  This was something I had never heard of before nor had I seen anything like it before. My baby's arms and leg were shorter than a normal person and he wud have been a short stature person. We were told that this was this was something that happened sparatically and when the egg and sperm met thru fertilization, that one of the genes that is needed for growth did not fuse togther. We spoke to a gentic counselor to c if this cud happen again if we tried again and was told that it was just something that happened sparatically.I also had a miscarriage in Jul 2010 b/c my water broke early when I was 15wks and 4 days prego. I had problems with constipation and was told by my nurse that I cud take some Milk of Magnesia; however, I did take it and I think with all that pushing caused my water to break but it was extremely too ealy for me to have my baby, and so the baby didn't make it.The doc also said that they didn't find any abnormalities with that baby but it was too early any not everything had developed. I am now 5 wks and 5 days preg and praying and have faith that all will be well this time. Sorry my story was soo long. Sorry that ur having 2 deal with this Keep in Touch!!!!

It may just be that you have a very low fluid volume to start with, and that can be caused by several things. Drink at least a liter of water daily, and rest w your feet up! God does miracles every day...not just in the bible...seek him and his healing and speak healing and health to your baby out loud every day...the bible says to speak those things that are not so as they are so...and that is so powerful. Words you speak in faith will come to pass, but you have to believe and never speak negativity!!!  The doctors might say you're crazy or wrong, but jesus is the great physician :-)

drink plenty and avoid anything that can cause infection such as sex, tampons ect. id ask aboyr strong antibiotics as its infection that causes a lot of the problems when the fluid is gone. do what you feel is best and what ever you can to give your baby the best chance.

I have a friend that had no amniotic fluid at 5 months along. The doctors told her she should have a medical abortion but she didn't want that. So she went through with the pregnancy. Her daughter had a good bit of medical problems and its has not been easy for them but he daughter is now 3 years old and doing great!! Don't give up!

I'm really not trying to scare you. Just wanted to tell you. I have no experience in this....but my high school friends water broke at 19 weeks, almost 20.She had to make a tough decision she chose to give labor, they induced her 3 days later and she had her baby boy and moments later he died. So I'm not quite of your options....but i do hope you try your best to replenish it. I wish you and your little one the best of luck!

I had really bad cramps n my doctor suggested tht i should keep an eye on bleeding or fluid... I spoke to my doc this week asking him to tell me difference between normal discharge n fluid... He didnt evn answer me properly just said its going to gave some sort of blood init....

Now i had to mke an appointment with my midwife next week coz i m not getting ny straight answers... N they wont do a scan until i m 20wks... But one thing my doctor did suggested that i should be drinking more than 3 liters everyday... So keep drinking water i m sure everything will be fine... Best of luck n take cares....

I hope everything is okay..
I know how stressful it could be...
When I was 18 weeks pregnant during the anatomy ultrasound the tech found calcium deposit in my baby heart a sign for DS ( down syndrome) I was refere to the genetic clinic ...they ask me to do the amnio but I refuse because of the high risk .. I got counciling and a 2d /3d/4d split screen ultrasound ... The specialist said that he had a good profile.. My baby had hiccups and was already facing down at 22 weeks.. ...I just pray for my baby to be okay ... I'm Catholic and I have 2 special prayer in my journal  The prayer is called prayer for expecting mothers...I saved this prayer in my iPhone notes and when I was in labor I kept reading this prayers..Thank god my baby was healthy ....
X best of wishes ...

Drink LOTS of water, put yourself on bestest and limit your activity. I suggest drinking water 24/7... It should help build up your fluid levels. And of course pray :) good luck mama.
