So jobamniotic fluid means miscarriage or what
Hi Kimberly,
Can you please tell me about the outcome of your pregnancy? My daughter is in the same position at 19 weeks. She has almost no amniotic fluid. She was told the baby has no chance for survival but a week after her car accident (which made water break) his heart is still beating strong.
Thanks!
There may be just a small amount of fluid that supporting the baby. The major way your baby gets it's nutrition is via the placenta and umbilical cord so growth shouldn't be a problem. But having no amniotic fluid means the baby can't swallow and/or have it's kidneys/bladder getting a workout. Also there is some sort of impact on the lungs as well as not having a large shock absorbing cushion around it.
If you had a tear, you probably would've noticed fluid leaking out (at least a little, it might be a little like you wet yourself). Amniotic fluid constantly replaces itself so it's not once you've lost it all, that's it.
Also you have to get to at least 24 weeks before there is much chance of a baby surviving if born. But preferably longer because at 24 weeks there's a huge chance of complications.
I know of women who have had leaks for a few weeks in their pregnancy. In some cases the tear has healed, especially if it was behind the baby's head (hind leak). If you are leaking you should be on prophylactic antibiotics as a tear is a good way to let infection in.
Hopefully you will be fine.
my doctor(maternal-fetal medicine specialist) has also told me that i have no amniotic fluid, the baby's bladder and kidney's are developing right on track and the heart rate is 160. he is closely monitoring me, i have weekly ultrasounds done. i am 22 weeks along.
hunny, if you actually had no fluid whatsoever your baby would be gone as the fluid is like air to him her.
so be reassured that there is actually fluid there. if your waters broke you would be in prolonged labour as your very early for labour.
breakage of waters or water membranes causes you to contstantly feel as if your peeing and can be large amounts as the baby restores the amonic fliud very fast. drinking water helps to restore by purifying your body of toxicating dietry foods etc therefore your baby also.
i advise you to speak to your midwife and seek another opinion as these people your involved with should not even be registered if they are telling their patients such rubbish. im a first aider and have knowledge to know they are completely wrong, i hope these staff are new and not so called experienced as that would be worrying.
