Nuchal Translucency

Hi. Been doing a lot of reading and worrying about a 3.4mm NT. I have declined any further genetic testing and they didn't suggest any further blood tests due to the thickness of the baby's fluid. No one has mentioned the high false positive rate associated with these NT test. I don't want to freak out, because many babies have been born healthy with higher measurements.  Has anyone had a similar experiences to help ease my anxiety? There are many studies where babies have had this measurment and more and been perfectly healthy. I am 12 weeks 5 days. Any support or advice is appreciated. Thank you.

I'm 33, but was 32 when we conceived. I'm sure I'm doing the right thing, especially when taking into consideration these are screenings and not diagnostic. I didn't have any doubt that our baby was healthy before, and dont feel I should have doubt now. I am 13 weeks today and starting to feel better again and beginning to show :). I guess I'm just on here looking to vent a little and for support. thanks ladies. Any outcomes and updates will be appreciated and I'll give mine too.

DE stands for Donor Eggs. My donor is 25 years old. So my odds go by her eggs even though I am 45. We tried for 2 years with my eggs and ended up miscarrying. When I had my 3 children in my 20's I too declined the testing. It didn't make sense.
Good luck and God Bless

Thanks Melanie, I've decided not to do anymore of the tests because its not going to chance anything for me anyway. I am not terminating, regardless. I have said that I would put it on my faith and continue to go from there. We have a perfectly healthy invelligent vivacious 5 year old. I dint have any of these test with her and I wish I had known they were optional now. I probably wouldn't have taken them anyway. Well, I'm going for my 20 week ultrasound and I will get the fetal ekg as a measure. I have some resources in place., but really can't wait to tell these doctors, I told you so...as it appears, the odds are in our favor. So I'm going with that. Thanks for your reply. What's DE stand for? P.S. been praying :)

Hi,
I'm not sure what the rate of false positives are but when I had my NT test there are more than just the US. The blood work needs to be done along with US to get a real number. I was told that they would put all the results together and if there were a question then I would move on to amnio. I pray you can find clarity somewhere! why not go on for further testing, Maybe then you can prepare yourself either way.
Hugs to you!
Melanie
PS I am 45 and 15 weeks PG but I had to move on to DE.
