joyrenee is right if the placenta is the problem they can scan the umbilical cord and placenta to make sure bloodflow is good.  I had this done at 34 weeks because our little girl is small also.  They can also do a biophysical profile to check if the baby is tolerating any change in bloodflow.  hopefully if all is fine they won't induce you early.

Try reflexology, I know weird but therss points in the foot that trigger the reproductive system

Slow growth could be the sign that the placenta is already aging and calcifying. Is there a way for your doctor to check on the placenta itself? Because ultimately, of course, avoiding induction and letting baby come when they can come is going to be the best thing if the placenta checks out alright.

I'm going to say that a high-tech scan with a highly experienced technician would be the best way to go as they can do this neat trick where they can see where blood flow is in the umbilical cord and placenta.

Your baby could just be waiting these last extra few weeks to put on the weight, that's when they put the most weight on so if she comes out early then that doesn't make much sense....I would get a second opinion too. My son was 12 days late and I did try a lot of things such as the tea, sex, evening primrose oil, bouncing on a yoga ball, walking...etc. I also had like 5 stretch and sweeps and he still didn't come till he was ready.
If your baby doesn't have anything that is life threatening and she's getting the nutrition she needs then I wouldn't get induced. That makes it more difficult on you and baby but that's just my opinion.

My friend had slow growth at the end of her pregnancy and that was because her placenta wasn't working as well so it was safer to get baby out as the baby was being starved. If this is the case for u, I would try walking alot, have a sweep if you are able to, also sex, hot baths etc.. Good luck hopefully u go naturally and do not have to be induced x

I agree. Why are they wanting you to deliver by 39 weeks? Baby can stay in there until 42 weeks and its considered normal....

Get a second opinion. You can refuse any and all medical interventions. How is babies growth slow? Or what makes him say it is

If I were you I wouldn't try doing anything. If your baby is growing a little slow let him or her grow. There is a reason they aren't inducing you yet. Just my thought. Good luck. I wish I was 38 weeks lol!

Thanks ladies... I'm 38 weeks right now. My doc wants to induce me at 39 weeks coz the baby's growth is little slow. I use to have contraction during 28 th week which were 7 mins apart. Now no contractions or signs of dilation is happening. I know if u are not dilating and get induced you are at a very high risk for a c- section..and that is my biggest fear. Hopefully all the walking and exercise will help me to dilate..Goodluck ladies!!

I'm in your situation too.  I have been drinking raspberry leaf tea with cinnamon sticks for a week, I tried nipple stimulation (weird), accupressure points, intercourse and exercise ball.  I have been having contractions 10 min apart every evening for 4 days but it stops when I go to bed :(.  Supposedly drinking castor oil works but some studies show that it does cross the placenta and can make the baby pass meconium, not worth the risk for me plus it can make you throw up if your not ready.  I'm being induced on sunday but hopefully she decides to come before then.  good luck to you both!

I so am in the same boat as you right now!!! I am actually going to try some of these things. The intercourse may be a little harder for me because they moved my husband to nights and he has duty on wednesday for 24 hrs! But the exercise ball i can do.

If baby isn't ready, nothing will work. But you can always try, walking, bouncing on an exercise ball, having sex, Red Raspberry Leaf Tea, evening primrose oil (either applied directly on the cervix or taken orally), spicy foods, acupressure, massage, and if you are dilated and very close to your due date, your doc can strip your membranes. Other than that, it's a waiting game! And none of these things will work unless your body is ready and some of these things just help aid in the labor process or make it a bit easier. Baby will come when ready!

How far into your pregnancy are you??? If your over the 36 wk mark try Raspberry Leaf Tea you get it in the all natural isle in ur grocery store. You have to drink a few cups of it and it kinda tastes a little bitter but I went into labor 8 hrs after i drank a few cups.....

Technically nothing since baby will come when it wants to. Your best bet is a membrane sweep from your doctor which has a 50% chance of sending you into labor if you have dilated a little and are ready. I tried everything to get my labor going. I was 3 cm and 85% effaced for weeks and didn't go into labor until 39 weeks. 36 hours after my membrane sweep.
