Should i see a heartbeat?

Hi everybody,
i hope somebody can help me.
I have had my first scan and it shows on the pics the fetal is 10mm
and 7 weeks. Everything looks normal part from ,, we cant see a heartbeat,,!
Could it be that it was to early? Going from my first day of my last periot i would be 8 weeks but
i know 100% that i had no intercourse for at least 2 1/2 weeks from there on. What in my books
should make me really 5 1/2 -6 weeks. I so want this baby. So does any body think that
there is a chance i could see the heart in a weeks time????

Ok,
i cant tell you how thankfull i am. I will let you know as soon i have more news.
I am having a nother scan tomorrow and hopefully i can tell you some good news.

It would have helped if you had a recent level.one way to find out,is ask them to repeat your bloods,they should be doubling every 72 hours.that level then puts you around 4-5 weeks.since your period a pregnancy is actually 38 weeks.its 40 because they include the 2 weeks prior to ovulation.so i would agree your about 7 give or take day or 2. weeks..
still bit early for anything.dont worry about the size this isnt that important yet.dont use this in your conclusions,what you need is another blood test,and ideally another scan,in a few days.dont let the doctor tell you what you have to do,its your body.as of yet you are not bleeding or cramping.so insist on more blood work,and scans.ideally with a different doctors.

my Levels were 1126 ui/l on the 25 of August. I have had intercourse on the 9 of August.
My Last periot was from the 25- 31 of July. On the 17 September i had my scan. Can these dates help you any more?

Thats what i meant,so what was your levels ? its tsrange that they have how many weeks followed by levels,since every womens levels are completly different,some have low slow rising others high,ive been pregnant 8 times in total.and levels been all other.it really is early days yet.he is a bit of a **** doctor.to tell you your baby is dead.when clearly its still early.when was your last period.if you are uncomfortable with him,you are within your rights,no matter where your from to seek advice from another doctor.

Hi Tarajanes,
I am here in France and they dont exept your Pregnant untill the Doc took a blood test to confirm it what as all the diffrent Levels ( Week 1 to 12) written on it. Beside the weeks it has all the Levels of your HCG. So they can see how far you are about. My n say two weeks. After that you can book in for a scan not before!. My other problem of course is that i am english not french so speaking to the Doc is difficuld. I hope you can understand now (-: Thank you for listing

What is the blood test result.when doctors test to find out if your pregnant it will be a urine test,if they do a blood test it wont say your 2-3 weeks pregnant.it will give you a number this is called a HCG.this confirms if a pregnancy is there.remember doctors use your period as a guide line for dating,until your a little further on.you will then get an accurate date.so remember for the first 2 weeks after your period you were not pregnant,you concieved during ovulation this happens roughly 2 weeks into a cycle.you may be 8 weeks but the baby would only be 6 weeks give or take.

Hi everybody,
well all i say is that the Doc sayd its dead and then he sayed he could book me in
stright away to take it out. No menthion of a nother blood test or nothing.
What i dont understand is : My blood test resuld i had to find out if i was Pregnant
sayd i was 2 weeks 2-3 days but going from my first day of my last periot i should be
8 weeks. My scan sayd i was 7 weeks and the fotus is 10mm, Fotus and placenta all looks normal but he ( Doctor) could not see a heartbeat. If the Baby did die a week ago as he says, the scan and 8 weeks work out right but my blood test i had does not work
with the 8 weeks or the scan and i know 100% that the Blood test works exactly out with the day i had intercourse with my Husbant. We did not have any before because i had familie staying for 2 weeks and i dont like it then. So as soon as they left we did...
So thats why i know the date 100%. So some were is a week missing?????
I hope that explains things better. Do you all think my baby and i could have a chance??

If you are only 5-6 weeks it is too early to see anything. Glad you insisted on another u/s. And like the previous poster said, get a second opinion before making any decisions. Good luck.

what do you mean you forgot to say the baby is dead???  How does the doctor know if it's too early to see a heartbeat?  that doesn't make any sense since you stated that everything elso looked good.  I would get another opinion.  go to the er or something.

Sorry this has happened.its always hard to believe when we are told this.somtimes the baby can stop growing and mc takes place later maybe even couple oof weeks,glad you insisted in waiting another week,hopefully they may be wrong.

I forgotten to say that my doc sayd that the baby is dead!
But i just cant believe it. I havent had any bleeding or cramps or pains!
Now i have to wait for a week because i insisted on a nother scan.

i have just read that if it is 10mm you should see a heartbeat.
But i havent and at 5 1/2 - 6 weeks shurely 10mm is to big?
I know i had no intercource so why is the fotus so big?

Your ultrasound estimations as to how far you are would be pretty accurate early in pregnancy. Don't worry too much yet, depending on when you ovulated you could be a little earlier than you thought. I'm sure you'll see one soon!
