Social Services!?!?

So I had my first Doctor's appointment with this place here... (I just moved so needed a new physician) and I have Medicaid so my options are a bit limited and the place I chose is actually a branch off of where I was going before. Okay well this place here.. wow like so ghetto. They don't even have nurse practitioners or real Doctors till one pm. My appointment was stupid. I thought they would have everything together and know what needs to be done. Nope. Have to wait another week and I'm 38 weeks today! All she did was listen to the heart beat and tell me everything I already knew about the third trimester. How productive. THEN after all that pointless wasted time I was done and she went to set me up an appointment. All of a sudden this lady from Social Services comes in askin me all these questions. Then, she asked about the dad. I'm 17. I was 16 when I got pregnant. My husband is 22. This lady was like.. I'm gonna have to file a police report! Uhm excuse me I have every right to have sex with my own husband. And according to my due date.. the conception date is Aug 24! We married July 18! This lady was talking down on me like some kind of ignorant child telling me how important education is and how expensive a baby is no ****. I'm actually going to start COLLEGE lady. She was talking to me like I was some kind of alcoholic crazy wild teenager. I felt so disrespected. Anyways. She called me and told me she is not going to file a police report. (DUH! Have nothing to report!) And I am still SO SO scared that this will not be their last appearance. In fact, I'm considering not going to my next appointment or any other. I'll wait til I go I to labor then just go to the hospital. I don't have much time left and I don't want to go back there. I'm terrified I'm gonna end up in some drama with them. They're great at Finding problems! So is CPS. I'm so freaked out.

The law varies from where you live. In Tennessee sixteen is consensual but parents can press charges if six years apart. To marry here you have to have parents sign. If your married and less than six years apart which I believe I read you are then dont stress. Jus make sure your drug free your house is clean and yall dont have any domestic disputes and social services cant bother yall. Goodluck.

Question... why would you NOT want to put your baby's father on the birth certificate? I'm not trying to judge..just trying to understand..you're married and having a child but don't want his name on it?

Make it clear when you go into the hospital you dont want people from social services comeing in your room except for the lady that explains the birth certificate information. I had my first daughter at 15 and my husband was 22 but seen we werent married at the time, a lady from social services came in asking all sorts of things and i told her it was non of her business and to not come back in my room.

this might sound stupid but if you're not far from the border of Oklahoma why don't you come over here and deliver your baby?

Oh and in my comment about being arrested I didn't mean you, sorry if that was confusing. I meant in general if you had say a 19,year old who has sex with a 17 year old they could be arrested but would probably have the case dropped. I know in the "clinic type" setting its popular because they want to make sure there isn't some sort of abuse taking place. Also not all teen moms are as mature as yourself and many probably have no idea what they are getting into.

That's what I was worried about ... I don't want to deal with Social services at the birth of my child. NO WAY I'm speaking to them at a time like that. And yes knufrio there is high teen pregnancy rate in this city and I'm sure they've seen it all

Just dont speak to anybody from social services anymore. i had the same problem with my husband and according to my lawyer your already pregnant and married so they cant do anything about it anymore unless YOU pressed charges. And when you have the baby at the hospital more people from social services will come in your room and try and talk to you, just refuse to talk to them. I know what your going through it ***** but just stay calm and positive.

I also just realized you may not have any issue at all, I know here some places have counseling protocols in place for pregnant teens. That may just be the case there.

They can't arrest you. If they try they have no reaosn. If they would and could arrest anyone it would be the child's fsther. They can't do anything to you

Well she's pregnant. So there's nothing that they can do. Don't talk to anyone else about your business especially them flunkys at social services. Your married and that's all they need to know

She was trying to scare you!  She probably didn't do her math  before she went and talked to you. If they try to talk to you again I would show them your marriage license.  Tell them they are wasting your time and their time and to go bother someone else!

Hmmm in Tennessee it's 18 with a 4 year difference. If you have sex with someone under 18 and are more than 4 years older its a statutory rape charge
