They just found a sist on my babys head

I'm 20 weeks pregnat about just had my second ultrasound, but they said the baby has a sist on it's head. They said it's is most likely a build up of fluids and will go away but what else could I be looking at. Is that the most likely answer or are they just sugar coating it? because now they want me to come in more offent so they can keep an eye on the sist. Also I have been a little worried because my blood pressure as been really low. It has been around 99/57 and I'm still loseing about 1 to 2 1/2 pounds aweek but I have been eating nonstop.

hey... i just went through this same thing!!!  its called a choroid plexus cyst.  at one of my u/s they found a cyst in the baby's head and also found something in the heart (echogenic foci) and said both are "soft markers" for down syndrome but nothing to worry about...  well, we worried and i asked tons of questions and tried to find info everywhere i could.  usually when they find things and the docs are worried then they will schedule you another u/s immediately like w/in a day or 2.  they didn't have me come back for 4 weeks (i got to worry that long!).  when i went back the cyst was gone!!!  the heart thing is still there but its not supposed to be anything (just calicium deposits) and should go away by like age 5 or something!

i believe your baby will be fine also... especially if your 1st trimester screen was normal!!!  the doc also told us that they saw this in their office over 1800 times last year and the VAST majority of those pregnancies (and babies) were completely normal!!!  i won't tell you not to worry b/c i know i did...  but let us know what they say when you go back!!!

good luck!!!!!!

My 2 1/2 yr old had a cyst on his neck when he was born. They told me it was a build up of fluid and tissue. Until he was about a year old, white stuff would come out of it if messed with. He still has a small hole where the cyst once was, but no drainage. There is nothing medically wrong with him, he will just probably always have that small hole. Barely noticable. I'm sure your baby is fine too!

My cousin was told the same thing with her first son and when she went back for the follow up scan, everything was fine. Try not to worry.  It's actually quite common.

Blaze I just found out on Friday that my baby boy has 4 cyst on his brain, they said the non thinking part of the brain, and not to worry because they see alot of these now on the babies, and they are usually gone by 24 weeks. I know its so hard not to worry, but try not to. Did you have any of the genetic screeings done? I did and they said because my numbers were completely normal then there is really nothing to worry about. Good Luck and try not to worry.

Don't worry too much, it is quite common. It happened to my friend and she was worried sick for over it. When she saw her Dr the next time the Dr was quite mad they had even mentioned it, said it was normal and not to worry. As far as te blood pressure i wouldn't worry about that either, is that a normal reading for you? If you normally have low blood pressure you do have to watch it if goes up, my Dr put me off work when mine was 124/80 because that was high for me (norm about what your was).
