My friends baby had this. Didn't have it clipped n he's a normal 3 year old. They put him in speech therapy but after the first appt the therapist said he didn't need to come back. You can still understand everything he says.
My sister's baby had to have his clipped. I don't know much about it, but it seemed like a pretty simple procedure. I think he had it done when he was a few weeks old. He is nine months old, so he hasn't started talking yet, but they didn't have any issues. I know a tongue tied baby can have problems nursing. My sister tried but was unable to.
My cusins tounge was like that.. my aunt didn't wanna clip it.. my cusin is 15 years old as of today nd she's perfectly normal.. however she Juss cnt stick out her tounge all the way nd she wnt be able to pierce her tounge but both those things are okay...
That little piece of flesh under the tongue is very close or at the tip of the babies tongue which can cause speech problems and trouble with breast feeding. So what happens is the doc will recommend it to be clipped to free the movement of the tongue. It literally takes 2 seconds and barely bleeds. My son just had it done. He's adjusting to the freedom of moving his tongue around.
I did see a post on this a while ago. My friends daughter had that problem. She found out when she was trying to breast feed. Baby had the surgery, and is a happy healthy 7 year old. She does have a slight speech delay though.
Im srry, can you pls tell me what you mean by "tongue tied"?
