Too many Tums???

What happens if I take more than the daily recommended dose of Tums in a 24 hour period? I noticed I am over the dose now and I have to keep them by my side because I keep heartburn and serious indigestion. Does anyone have any tips besides changing my diet? I can barely eat or drink anything without it setting me on fire!!!

You ladies are the best!! I will definitely ask when I go back. The holidays have messed my next appointment up so instead of me waiting 2 weeks I have to wait almost 3 this time.

My doc just prescribed me heartburn med Protonix...it is amazing ! I was having the same issues with thinking if I was taking to many tums- the heartburn was KILLING ME !!! Just ask your doc... my doc told me if this med didn't relieve my heartburn that there was another med she could prescribe. ..but the Protonix has been great. Take it once daily and I'm good to go !

Yes there are daily acid reducers you can take that will help. I take one daily, sometimes twice when needed. My doctor told me what active ingredient was ok to take and I got the generic version because those pills can be costy.

My doctor told me to try prilosec or zantac I think. Its a better antacid and she said it was safe with pregnancy

Oh and any kinda juice makes my indigestion 10 x worse. I barely drink I'll just have a soda or water instead.

My mom says it's just calcium but you DONT wanna ever go over the daily usage. Try just drinking milk for heart burn/indigestion that helps me. And a cup of hot water with mustard is what my mom does I can't see myself trying that remedy.  Warm water light meals don't lay down right after you eat. Walking can help digestion too
