Unmedicated birth Possibly!?!

This mabe a silly ques. But I'm 33wks ftm. I want to try drug free birth with the option of pain medicine if I feel I can't handle it... It's very hard to pick as I really don't know what to expect. Anyways my question with no pain medication is what happens if they have to do a episiotomy and give u stitches after? Do they at least numb the area first? or do they just cut away? because if that's the case I need the drugs!

I had all four of mine with no epidural. Im scared of that big needle and I didnt think of it as an option while in labor. I did get meds to "ease" the contractions. It basically helped me sleep a little but I still felt all of the pain. My longest labor was only 7 hours. If it wouldve been like 12 or 24 hours I dont think I couldve done it. Got a BFP today...If all goes well I will have this little one without an epidural also.

I had mine with just pain relievers. I also ripped but not that badly that I needed stitches,it just felt like a burning sensation, they just held it shut for a bit. But let me tell you goes so fast that you don't have a minute to think about it before something else is happening

Girl good luck! I tried to go natural and I got pretty far but couldn't take it anymore and after I got the epidurals I enjoyed it so much it was much more amazing being sane through it than going insane with pain lol. Oh and I ripped and had stitches so I'm glad I had meds!

& yes perineam message does work. That's why I didn't have an episiotomy with my third. We started at home doing it at about 35 weeks & my doctor was amazing & slowed me down as I puhed so I didn't tear. I had HUNDREDS of stitches with my first two & not having them made all the difference in the world. I didn't even feel like I had just given birth.

With all 3 of my deliveries I went med free & with the first 2 had to got an episiotomy. They numb you with a local numbing agent right down there. There is so much pressure by that time you don't feel the needle.

I had my first son without pain meds and had to be cut but I don't know if they used a numbing medicine because all I felt were the contractions and I didn't see them use a needle or wipe before I saw the scissors

My deliveries have been complicated. Drug free isn't an option for me. But by the time u start pushing u just want the baby OUT.

By what I hear u will be only thinking of ur contractions. But the have I think wipes or spray that numbs it. I tried this with my first but had csection instead. The only thing I would worry about is ripping. Course I have a friend with a horror story of it.

Im also a ftm and wanting to try natural. I heard that if when they cut you it doesnt hurt that bad anyway, its like a pinch but im assuming they numb it anyway when theu sterilize the area.

I had my second daughter at home without any pain meds and it wasnt too bad. To be honest I found it easier then my first that I had drugs with coz I was more in control. I've not had to be cut though so im unsure bout that question.
