Update on TJ and Heart Surgery Complications
As for TJ he got tubes in his ears 2 days ago and his chest opened and cleaned.
his fever is gone and for the first time in several days I got him to take an entire 3 oz. (Yesterday) YAY! we weighed him and his weight is up to 9lbs3oz but I take of 3 oz from all the dressings on him.
he needs serious prayer. he's been put into the hyperbaric chamber 2x a day.
i'm just hoping and praying that god didn't put him here for this long just to take him from us.
I feel horrible. my baby is going to miss his first christmas at home.
his body rejected the wires used to close the chest bones after surgery, and so they opened him back up completely and are using some special treatments, like Hyperbaric oxygen treatment and a Vac pump with a special sponge in his chest to soak up all the junk in there, and a vacuum device to keep it clear and help it close up.
He will be there thru christmas so we don't even get pics of him with santa. :(
They said it is the best treatment they have at the hospital so they are hoping it won't take long. the poor little guy hates it and with the HBO treatment, he can't have vaseline products on him except for 1x a day at night.
so his skin is all dry and painful. (it feels like a sunburn when our skin gets too dry..)

Kelly~ Thanks! The nurses there won't give me an estimate on how well that device works. and seeing the would Vac is easier than looking into his gaping chest. (blood/wounds don't bother me, it was the fact my little boy was in pain was all. They actually let me change his dressing the other day before the wound vac)

Stacy is right.....babies are so strong when it comes to injury/surgery...Look at how well he's done so far....He's one tough little guy!
Those wound vac's are really awesome too...I'm a nurse and we use them pretty often when a patient has a wound that won;'t heal......I know that they aren't pretty to look at....but in my experience, they work wonders...and in half the time.
Maybe Santa will make a trip to see TJ!!!!!

You know you are in my prayers. I am amazed at how strong you are being. Tell TJ we are pulling for him. Please do not forget to take a second for yourself and breathe.
OMg,I haven't been on andhad no idea J was going thru this. Elijah andI will send up prayers constantly! I couldn't imagine him that sick. you are so strong...Eli got a small staph on his scrotum(with rheumsyndrome staph is easy, I get mrsa so thank God it wasn't that) I was distraught to think of him in pain...Babies are alot stronger than us.He will be fine no matter what happens, he will look back at these days without even a memory...I would see if someone can dress like santa and visit for the pics. I have spent Christmas in a hosp before and they actually had a santa that set up throne and all on the childrens ward... Take care of you girl...
You and your family (especially little TJ) are in my thoughts. I am sorry you are going through this! We all know that TJ is a little fighter! I will remain optimistic and keep us posted!

I'm sorry to hear that, he's been a strong little guy and I truly hope that he gets well soon.
I am so sorry too. I just can't imagine. My son was in NICU for the first week of his life and it broke my heart. But he never had to go through any surgeries. Just tons of tests. But it broke my heart anyway.
