What does it mean when i bleed a week before my period?

I am 17 and have been on birth control for like a year. Yesterday i started bleeding, and it was very light, but today its almost like i have my period. ( I have blood clots coming out. ew i know.) It really weird, i dont get my period for another week and i havent missed any of my pills. Can anyone tell me what this is and if i should call my doctor..?

I just miscarried last month and had I not known that I was pregnant I would have just thought that I got my period a few days late. The bleeding lasted just as long as a period would (I don't think that even if it were a miscarriage that you would have your period again). I don't think you have too much to worry about though because even if that were the case then you lost it early enough that it would have been considered a "chemical pregnancy" and you're body obviously has done the work of clearing it on it's own.
Like I said before though, it is very unlikely that you were pregnant if you are sure that you have not missed any pills. Probably just a funky period ;)

I think it could very well just be that your period is adjusting or changing its schedule. When I was on Depo I didn't get a period for over 2 years straight, then all of a sudden it showed up. The doc said that sometimes your body just has to regulate itself...

It's hard to say. You could have just had an irregular period, or you may have miscarried. It is unlikely that you would have been pregnant if you are sure that you didn't miss any pills, but there is a VERY small chance that you could have been pregnant. It is probably a good idea that you contact your doctor just in case. If you did have a miscarriage, then he would need to make sure that you have passed all of the tissue from the pregnancy or it could cause an infection.
Good luck with everything and hopefully it is just one of those weird periods.
