When can doctor hear hb on doppler?

I am wondering how early a doctor can usually hear the heartbeat using a doppler? I had an early scan at 7wks and saw a hb. My next appt with OB is not until 12 wks. I was thinking of requesting an earlier appt with the OB for reassurance, because I am now 8 wks and still have virtually no pregnancy symptoms and it is making me feel pretty anxious. Was anyone able to hear a hb with the doppler earlier than 12 wks? Thanks in advance.

I just got mine yesterday.  I am 10 wks 4 d and heard the heartbeat clearly.  I did have trouble finding it this morning though as it seems to jump around!  I am in the same boat as you.  I had an appt at almost nine weeks and they didn't even attempt to listen for the heartbeat. My next appt will be when I am almost 14 wks.  I couldn't wait that long!!!  And my office doesn't do early scans so I haven't been able to hear or see anything yet!  Drives you crazy :)

Hey I bought a home doppler and found the heart beat right off at 9 weeks:) Went to the dr at 9wks 1 days they also found the heartbeat but it took awhile! It is clear as day now at 10wks but it moves arouns alot so i can only find it for a few seconds at a time! Love it though my doppler is way more sentitive than the one the doctor used! it is a sonoline b paid about 65$ for it! Im not super thin and still could find it!

Thanks so much for answering ladies. It sounds like it doesn't make much sense for me to ask for an earlier appt. It would probably be more stressful if they tried to find it earlier and could not. I guess I will just have to wait it out....

I heard it with both my girls at 10 weeks. I was thin though so that could be why they heard it clearer. 10-12 weeks is usually the norm.

I had an u/s appt at 10wks, but they tried to find the heartbeat with the doppler prior to doing the u/s. They weren't able to find it. However, it showed up on the u/s clear as day. My next appt was at 12wks and we could hear it on the doppler then.

TYPICALLY around 12 weeks, however there are factors that can make it later....if you are overweight, if you have a tilted uterus or if you have an anterior placenta...those can make it more difficult for the doppler to pick up the heartbeat.

Sometimes it's possible to pick it up earlier than 12 weeks, but it's usually closer to 12.
