Yolk Sac

I went in for an ultrasound at 6 weeks(I've had a missed miscarriage before so they are being extra careful this time). They said I was only 5 weeks 1 day and that they could only see the gestational sac and to come back in a week for another ultrasound. I went in for the ultrasound today and all they could see was the gestational sac and the yolk sac. They could not see the baby yet. They are doing another ultrasound in a week. I'm really nervous. Has anybody else had this? They couldn't really tell me if this was bad news or good news. I'm hopeful since it sounds like everything is growing but I'm really nervous that when I go back in a week they will not be able to see the baby or a heartbeat and I'll have another miscarriage again.

Yes, I'm only high risk and have a history of miscarriages that's why they are testing and getting ultrasounds so early. Thanks for all the feedback. I'll try to relax and be patient and wait.

When I went in for my first ultrasound, there was a midwife doing my ultrasound at first. She told me that all she could see was a 'yolk sack' and said she needed to go get the doctor so they could do a transvaginal ultrasound and then rushed out of the room. I started crying. I had no idea what this 'yolk sack' meant and I thought there was something wrong with the baby. The Dr. Came in and did the other ultrasound and the baby was fine :) I was only 8 weeks and 3 or 4 days so it was just too small to see with a regular ultrasound. I'm sure your baby is fine, just very small at the moment.

I just recently had this happen. I was so nervous when I found out I was pregnant a few weeks ago. I went to the er l due to having sever cramps and with having a history of miscarriages I just wanted to be  save. During the process they gave me a ultrasound and said it was too early to determaine anything other than there was a yolk sac I was so nervous and worried something was wrong.. I went back monday of this week which was 2 weeks later and they determained I was 8 weeks along and even got to hear the heartbeat and everything was good. This is my 3rd child. I wouldnt be concerned at all!! I hope this helped u and good luck to you!

In Canada our first ob appointment is not until 12 weeks pregnant and normally only 1 os unless you had been a high risk before or your spotting or bleeding.  Good luck. xo

When I had my ultrasound at 6weeks all they saw was the sack and a ball of sorts looked like a bubble so I think you should be fine

Sounds like normal development hun. Most docs dont see patients to confirm viability until 8-12wks bc that usually ensure detection of the actual fetus. Youre still early so relax! Stressing does no good for you or your developing baby. Good luck momma!

Thanks I'm trying to relax. Unfortunately, due to my health issues I knew by two weeks I was pregnant since I was so sick.
