addicted to pain killers / 7 weeks pregnant! What are the safest options to get through this?

i just found out that i`m pregnant. i stopped taking all medications i was prescribed to prior. However i have not been able to stop taking the percocet 15mg 3-4 times a day ( not prescribed ) . This is my second pregnancy. All the symptoms i am expiriencing right now i did not expirience at all with my first pregnancy ( which ended week 12 from miscarrage ) With my first pregnancy i did not stop taking any medication. I was taking Adderall 30 mg once a day & suboxone 4 mg once per day. I want to know what are my safe options?

1) if you make a valiant effort to quit your doc will prescribe you subs to help with the withdrawals and they won't take your baby
2) its good that you Ste admitting the problem and want to stop, I highly suggest honestly speaking with doc, they have to help you, and baby will only be taken from you of born with the drug in its system or born withdrawing

I used to be addicted to perks, I know its hard, I still think about how good the high felt sometimes and I quit before even becoming pregnant, its tough and nobody who hasn't been there really understands

I just found out I'm pregnant.  About 8 wks. I have been addicted to loratabs for 4 yrs. I can't stop due to withdrawals. I am not prescribed. I wasn't supposed to be able to get pregnant, so this is a complete surprise.  If I stop, withdrawals will harm the baby, but if I continue, without a prescription,  I could have my baby taken away. I'm scared to talk to my doc for that reason. I don't want them to take my baby for an addiction that was caused from another doctor who prescribed the meds to me, without explianing the addictive consequences. I was young, & had NO CLUE about opiate addiction until it was too late. Please help me. I'm desperate,  scared, and feel completely helpless. Somebody please help me find an answer.

percocets are NARCOTICS and are not taken lightly.

either way your baby is super vulnerable right now. more vulnerable than it will be after 14 weeks. you need to contact your doctor and ASAP. taking un-prescribed percocets is illegal and could bring penalties on you if the baby is addicted at birth.

You need to talk to your OB bc anything you take would be by prescription. So you need to contact your dr asap. They will know what it safest and best for you. And your baby.

I currently take for medical reasons 5/500mg of vicodein (hydrocodone) 2x daily for pain management and my pain management specializes in maternal heath and pain management in pregnancy. She said that at that low of a dose it is safe and should not cause a problem during pregnancy or at time of delivery meaning the chances of baby being born addicted and going through withdrawal are VERY low. However she does not like her patients to be on more than 5/500mg 3x daily. BUT if you are already on a higher dose you would need to stay on that dose through the first trimester and not decrease until the end of the second trimester and ONLY with drs supervision. So they make keep you on the meds you currently take OR they may switch you to subulex or even methadone both of which are synthetic opiates for addiction to avoid withdrawal. But the only person who can tell you what is best is your own dr bc they know your medical history. Please contact your OB asap

Do NOT stop taking your meds!!  Opiate addiction such as percocet leads to withdrawal which has a high rate of fetal death. If you stop taking your percocet your baby could die. You need to contact your dr and talk to them about a maintenance dose of opiates through pregnancy for the health and safety of your child or have the dr give you subutex but do not ever stop taking any medication without first speaking to your OB

If you are addicted to the Percocet then it would be very dangerous to just stop taking them because this will put you into withdrawal which can be extremely harmful to a baby. I would try and locate a Subuxone doctor. Since you are pregnant like me you will be put on Subutex which is a diff version that is safer for pregnant women. It will prevent withdrawal which like I said is extremely dangerous to a baby. It isnt good to be taking the precocet pregnant but it could be very dangerous to just stop and go through withdrawal. If you were on Subuxone before I would call your previous doctor and tell him you are pregnant and need help.

I was in the same situation as you. I was on Subuxone for 3 years and became pregnant and am 5mos preg right now. They switched me to the Subutex and everything has been going fine and me and the baby are closely monitored. So def get a hold of your doc!
