I had this happen to me with my first pregnancy. except it would happen if i stood up. i'd go to the L&D just to be told i was peeing myself. well two days later i had an OB app and went in and spoke to her and told her that there was no way i was peeing my self that much, well she did an ultrasound to discover that i was indeed leaking amniotic fluids, but the test strips they do to see if it is your water, for some reason didnt catch it. Sometimes you just have to listen to your gut.
This has been happening for weeks on and off for me and they keep sending me to the ER.they say it could just be a build up of discharge or really runny discharge. They have no exact explinantion at least they havent told me. Good Luck momma
I am in my 34 week of pregnancy and this past Monday night I couldnt sleep at all. Constant tightening and squeezing of my belly down in my pelvic area so of course I was really uncomfortable, so much I wanted to cry. I get up every 2 hours to pee. And at 10:30 Tuesday morning I got up to begin my day and a gush of watery fluid started streaming down my legs. I called for my grandmother(lives with me) and she insisted my water had broke. This is my first child so I have no idea what its like. I continues to have stomachs pains and went to the hospital. The nurse practitioner checked me and said it was "cervical mucus fluid" then sent me home. The day prior even now I have green snotty like mucus discharge. Did she mean my mucus plug fell out? Also Friday night 3 days after the scare I started contracting at 11pm at 14 minute intervals for several hours. Now contractions are spread out and not regular like that. Baby has been head down for over a month and my stomachs continues to drop everyday. Could I be in pre labor?? Should I go back to check for fluid.
And I'll agree with others that it doesn't sound like the mucous plug (losing it of which is not indicative of labor anyway). The mucous plug is more like hard, firm jello that was left out over night. It sounds to me like you just have a lot of vaginal discharge.
If you were 38 weeks or more I'd say labor at home! Being less than 2cm dilated means you'll be at the hospital longer and they may push interventions on you that could ultimately lead to cesarean.
But because you're under 37 weeks be persistent. Watch what is going on. Are you having contractions? If you have a contraction does fluid leak out? If you lay down and then get back up is there a big trickle of fluid?
Hopefully it is just discharge (some women do have tons of it!) because your little one still has a few weeks left to let those lungs finish developing. You do not want a NICU baby!
Sounds like fluid to me....I would say go back and be persistant. Ask them to do an ultrasound to check your fluid levels and have them repeat the test. My mucus plug was blood streaked and snotty like Clysta said.
I had this happen but it wasnt mucus it was like i peed myself but clear fluid. saw the OB two days in a row but the time they figured out it really was amniotic fluid I'd been leaking for 4 days! I had to be induced at 35 weeks 1 day. I had to be given antibiotics bc I had been leaking for so long to prevent infection. Don't hesitate to go back to the OB or hospital time and again
I've never heard of clear mucous. If you're losing your plug, generally it'll be snotty and might be streaked with brown or red. Clear discharge isn't unheard of either. Pregnancy generally will cause an increased amount of discharge and often it will be watery and can be enough to soak through. (im not even pregnant and having issues with that again) Often if it's your fluid as well when you stand baby will plug the hole and stop the leaking, and when you lay down you leak a bit more. You can call and see what they what you to do.
