back pain on right side..kidney infection?

lately i have been having shooting pain only on the right side of my lower/middle back...it comes and goes and only occurs when im laying down in bed ready to go to sleep. do you think this could possibly be a kidney infection or just pregnancy related back pain? i dont have any other symptoms like fever or blood in my urine, just the shooting pain in my right side of my back.

im 18weeks with my first baby and trying not to panic but with everything being so new its hard not to i get sharp shooting pains up my back "spine"  i get alittle belly pains but worse of all i cant sleep i have always slept on my tummy and now i cant as i am getting bigger im so drained as i am not sleeping at all
any advice? xthanksx

definitely! at first, every little ache and pain worried me. now i just have to try to lay back and relax and remember that they are natural and im gonna get a lot of them!

These babies of ours!   Hahaha!  I posted a thread the other day about this horrible pain I was getting in my stomach.  The doctor did an ultrasound to check the placenta and what did we see?  BOTH of her knees right at the spot where it hurt!  It made me feel good to know that all is well.  Now I don't mind the pain as much.  The owrrying is the worst part!

i went to the doctor today too and i just had to give a urine sample but everything was fine so no kidney infection..im not sure if they'll want to run some more tests but im not worried about it anymore...she said it could be where the baby is sitting, if she's sitting more on my right side that could cause the pain on just the right.

I went to see the doc y'day and he said back pain is eminent during pregnancy and the fact that me having scoliosys would amplify the pain. He also said its ok to have paracitamole as a pain killer and that it won't harm the baby in anyway (but im still skeptical about it). He recommended to use balms and other applications and of course a massage followed by.

I was asked not to wear heels (i sometimes wear a box heel of an inch)

I have the same symptom with me since few weeks now. I have no other signs thought like fever or urine issue. Just the intense pain in right side. I have a mild scoliosys also which was detedted about 10 years back and treated with a braze (cosset) not totaly cured. I'm going to see the doc today and hoping to solve the issue.

Hey hun.

I think the best thing to do is to go see ur doc and let him do a protein test on urine.
If protein shows in ur urine chances are that u have some kind of kidney problem. Blood in ur urine will not be easilly picked up with the naked eye.
PLZZZ do drink ALOT of water untill u can see ur doc.
