boost safe during pregnancy?

I am allergic and intolerant to quiet a few foods, since becoming pregnant my tastes have changed and the salads I once loved taste like dirt. I am wanting to know if Ensure or Boost are safe to drink... Or is my prenatal doing the trick. I am ten weeks and I have lost five pounds, i am assuming from vomiting and missing meals daily. I was told to drink it with my first son because I was having problems eating. It's full of vitamins and protein. My issue was they made me more sick, but I actually formed gestational diabetes at 8 weeks and they didn't know.

That's a good question.. Makes me think though, I get how the extra calories would be helpful, but what about the extra vitamins in them? If you're already taking a prenatal vitamin and then get more vitamins from the drink couldn't that not be good for you.. I do know if you get too much of certain vitamins it can make you pretty sick..

Ensure is basically just a high calorie drink that helps people gain weight and has vitamins in so it can be used as a sole source of nutrition in people that cant/wont eat!! We use it alot in our nursing home and its perfectly safe, in the UK the doc would prescribe it so u can get it free (prescriptions are free during pregnancy). It might just help u keep ur calorie count up while ur havin morning sickness.... tho they are very sweet and sickly, some are milkshake and some r like syrup, so i would drink them a bit at a time x

idk if their safe personally but I wouldnt worry too much about the weight loss... I lost just over 20 pounds before I started gaining weight back. as long as ur doc isnt worried about the weight its not bad but if ur getting really sick try some hard sour candies or preggie pop drops... they helped a lot with my morning sickness
