breastfeeding

I really want to breastfeed. Why is it so hard for some women to breastfeed? I'm terrified that I won't be able to but I'm confused on some of the reasons as why people are having a a hard time. Can anyone share their stories?

I had a horrible time getting started. They gave me a nipple shield at the beginning, which later I read it should be your last resort. I think I had adhesions, so my baby had to break them. I was determined to stick with it though. I would literally clinch my teeth in pain when she would latch, but after a while I toughened up, and successfully nursed for almost 2 years. If you have trouble, see if you can get a pump, that should been offered to me way sooner than it was :/ good luck!! :)

I gave up too fast with my first . Her latch was terrible so my nipples began to crack and bleed even with unlatching and relatching. I pumped for a while like a month. I regret not trying harder. I am 100% going to bf this time.

some women give up bcz it hurts for the first few weeks n can't take it.

others suppliment with formula bcz they think they don't have milk n by doing that they never get a real supply. Or bcz they have jobs to go back to. Theres just alot of reasons but everyone has their own choice

Others really don't have milk or don't produce enough to feed their babies so they dont have another option

for me it was so hard bcz wen my daughter was born I dcouldnt latch her onn and my daughter didn't know either so we were both learning together. N the first two weeks were really hard n painful but I had my mind set up to bf n well we suceeded for 15 mths.

I didnt want to with my first. She was in neonatal so I never really got the chance. But the nurses made me.try because they thought it was what was best. She wouldn't latch, so I pumped! I was literally exhausted, she would wake up every 2hrs to eat as well as I would have to pump more for her next feeding as soon as she fell asleep and That took around an hour. So I wasn't sleeping and massively stressed it was horrific. This one I plan on breastfeeding! Way cheaper and good for the baby plus helps with weightloss. But the reason many woman struggle is because it hurts really really bad, you leak all over everything and your nipples bleed. To top it off they call it the week from hell pardon my language. Because the baby will want to nurse all the time. And it is supposed to be absolutely exhausting and no one else can help feed the baby. Best advice, get a pump! That way you can have help at night for at least one feeding. Also read up on it! And if it's something you really want to do, you just have to keep pushing forward with it. Some moms it's comes so easy! Others it does not

My baby is almost 3 months old and I exclusively breastfeed the beginning is kind of hard to get through because my boobs were super sore and it hurt when she latched on because the nipples are used to breastfeeding so they are sensitive a lot of times I thought about quitting it but I didn't. After the first few weeks it won't hurt anymore. Some women have problems with their milk supply but I didn't. The only problem I have now is that I went back to work and my daughter doesn't like bottles and won't eat from em so now I have to work on weaning her.
