can i really have multiple babies

I'm only five weeks into my pregnancy. i went from weight 150 to 200 and 5weeks. The doctor says, it might be 3 babies in there. Is this a joke. that's  my third pregnancy never weighted that much.

Well the babies are super tiny any current weight gain has nothing to do with how many fetuses you are carrying. 50lb weight gain this early is way concerning. Did you miss type

Okay granted I am farther along than you ( I am 32 weeks 6 days ) I went to my doctor 2 days ago and I had gained 10lbs in a week. We can't figure out where , how or why I gained that much and I am only having 1 kid.
So don't feel bad maybe you will just gain all your weight right now and then not gain anymore. My weight gain has been in big jumps, I will stay the same for like 3 weeks and then next thing I know I have gained 5lbs but this was my biggest gain in such a short time.
Hopefully you can find out soon if it is only one baby or three....
on a side note have you been drinking lots of water or eating salty foods because maybe it is just water weight

Holy moly! 50 lbs in 5 weeks! Thats 3 lbs per baby per week if there were 3! Thats a bit on the high side how have u been eating and exercising? And is it possible you weighed more than you thought?

That's wild! Even if you divided 50lbs by 3, then you would have gained 16lbs per baby. It does seem odd but every pregnancy is different.
