effacement timing

Im currently 36 wks and went to my doc appt yesterday and she did and exam, im dilated 2 cm and 50% effaced. My question is how long does it take to become 100% effaced? I know everyone is different but any examples or advise would be helpful to give me a general timeline. She told us if we wanted to deliver in the next two weeks to go home and have sex everyday for the next two weeks and we will be meeting our son soon enough! how exciting! thanks ladies

=)  Haha Guys are so happy when they hear a doctor say that!  My husband, everytime we find out we're pregnant says, "Oh good now we can have tons of sex and not worry about getting pregnant!"  LOL  Even though we were trying, huh.  Hahaha well, I hope it happens in the next two weeks for you!  =)  Good Luck!

Effacement also has to do with the baby's head pressure too. I was 80% at one appt and then 2 weeks later was down to 60%, the doc says its because the babys head isnt putting as much pressure than it was. So, its part your and your husbands doing...but its also dependent on the baby's whereabouts too!

this is my first so i was scared he was going to late, but doc doesnt think so. My husbands face lit up like a child in a candy store when she said to have sex everyday. It was pretty funny to watch LOL! Thanks for the advise

I love how your doctor encourages sex everyday!  Your man must love that!!  =)  The semen will help get your cervix going to dialate and efface even more!  So saying that, it could take, a few days to a week or two.  All depending on you!  If this is your 2nd or 3rd it'll happen quicker, because your cervix has done this before!  =)  So exciting!  YAY for you!  Have a good time with the sex!!  =)
