If she is breastfed she might not be getting enough. That happened with my daughter. PLEASE DON'T GIVE HER STRAIGHT WATER. She could get water intoxication. Like someone said above try bicycle movements or my daughters dr. Told me to check her temp rectally which I hated doing but it might stimulate her to poop. If nothing happens still just call her dr. Or the nurse line. Good luck!
Did any of you noticed change in frequency of pooping after immunization vaccine ?My baby is really constipated after her vaccine,so itz been like 1 month she is constipated but before that she was pooping 4-6 times daily.but now only once every 5 days ,she is going to be 3 months old in 3 days.
the pebbly poop just a sign of to much iron but its ok nothing to be scared about just make an appointment to see the doctor they can change the formula
Sorry your the one who started the post. Yes, no good, new borns and infants seriously only have diarrhea like poop because they only take in liquid. I know that my toddler has had some like that when she got older, walking age. And it would mean she was dehydrated
Pebbly poop as an infant is not good. They should not have hard poops until they start eating real food. How old is your daughter?
So the pebbly poop is like poop with little balls?? Is that really bad ??? Because thats how my daughter poop today
I've used a lil bit of dark Karo syrup that worked everytime for me just put it in her bottle when she feeds the next time.. good luck
I just went to a county class today and they said 6 days without going it ok but once its been a week, or if it is pebbley poop they need to go to the Dr.
I didn't remember that from last time, but i do kno babies have like straight diarreah for the first like 10 months
Thanks ladies i called her doctor and they pissed me off they said i had to take the baby in so i told her ok can i go now and she said no till tomarrow but luckily she pooped in the morning... I was just so worried rubbing her belly and pushing her legs worked :)
3-4 poops per week is normal and 3-4 poops per day is also normal thats what my baby's pedatrician told me.
I had that problem i switched formulas.. So my little boy is on a constipation and colic formula and its the best thing ive done.. Good luck x
You can always call the pediatric nurses in the hospital where you delivered if you have late night questions with a brand newborn.
I agree, this isn't normal but I'm sure it can be solved. I wouldn't give the baby ANY medications at this age that the hospital or your pediatrician don't tell you to use.
Best wishes.
My nephew had that problem and I think my sister in law used maybe half or less because be was having problems on his own. Some doctors will tell you how much so the baby don't get too fussy.
Try a warm bath. A lot of the time that'll help to get things moving. I do not recommend using suppositories on an infant that young with consulting a Dr.
I just had the same issue. My son hadnt pooped since tuesday and he is 8 days old. It is normal for nb's to not poop for a couple days but by 72hrs and still nothing call the doc. Luckily my son pooped a huge one this morning. If your baby is formula fed, it can take.longer to digest.
I am sorry your little girl is having a rough time. I have gone through the same thing with my son. I would call your ped in the morning and see what they say. Until then do the exercises that twobecoetgree suggested. Warm baths also help. Do NOT give her the suppositories unless the dr tell you to!!! They can create more harm then good. With my son I ended up having to give him some pear or prune juice and when that wasn't working I had to put him on MiraLAX...Work close with the dr and everything will be fine. Best of luck!
She is formula fed and i tried moving her legs already hopefully that helps her i went to walgreens and they told me to buy suppositories but i dont know if i should use them or not and im scared to put it
Once you contact a pead perhaps you could let us know what is said maybe I'm a bit outdated with the info I was given
You can help her i had to with my daughter when u see her pushing hold her knees to her belly and help her push it out or my son he is 7months he wasnt going doctor said get prune juice like we would drink and give half and half 1oz juice 1oz water
Contact her pediatrician tomorrow my god daughter had to be given stool softeners is she a bf baby or a formula baby sometimes you may have to change their formula if they are formula fed their bellies may not agree with that specific brand.
Your right to me its not normal im going to call the doctor tomarrow anyways is just that im so worried
I've had 2 children having my third. And my midwife that visited my home with both of my children has said it's normal for formula fed babies. As breast milk is digested quicker and absorbed into their bodies where as formula isn't.
Is she formula fed? Really don't stress over it, massage her lower abdomen with two fingers in a circular motion working in a clockwise direction following roughly where the bowels are, so starting on the left to right down then left then up ( like a spiral) if that makes sense. Could also grab her ankles and mover her legs like she is riding a bike and bringing the knees into her lower belly, also warm baths help. Ad she can sense you stressing so try not to stress over it
I have never heard that is normal. If she hasnt gone by tomorrow afternoon contact a doctor. But i woukd say you are fine until then. My son did the ssame thing and my midwife said if he hadnt gone by the next afteenoon we would discuss what that could mean. But like i said i dont rhink the other lady is correct about up to 14 days being normal.
