If she is breastfed she might not be getting enough. That happened with my daughter. PLEASE DON'T GIVE HER STRAIGHT WATER. She could get water intoxication. Like someone said above try bicycle movements or my daughters dr. Told me to check her temp rectally which I hated doing but it might stimulate her to poop. If nothing happens still just call her dr. Or the nurse line. Good luck!

Did any of you noticed change in frequency of pooping after immunization vaccine ?My baby is really constipated after her vaccine,so itz been like 1 month she is constipated but before that she was pooping 4-6 times daily.but now only once every 5 days ,she is going to be 3 months  old in 3 days.

Sorry your the one who started the post. Yes, no good, new borns and infants seriously only have diarrhea like poop because they only take in liquid. I know that my toddler has had some like that when she got older, walking age. And it would mean she was dehydrated

Pebbly poop as an infant is not good. They should not have hard poops until they start eating real food. How old is your daughter?

You can always call the pediatric nurses in the hospital where you delivered if you have late night questions with a brand newborn.

I agree,  this isn't normal but I'm sure it can be solved.  I wouldn't give the baby ANY medications at this age that the hospital or your pediatrician don't tell you to use.

Best wishes.

My nephew had that problem and I think my sister in law used maybe half or less because be was having problems on his own. Some doctors will tell you how much so the baby don't get too fussy.

Try a warm bath. A lot of the time that'll help to get things moving. I do not recommend using suppositories on an infant that young with consulting a Dr.

I just had the same issue. My son hadnt pooped since tuesday and he is 8 days old. It is normal for nb's to not poop for a couple days but by 72hrs and still nothing call the doc. Luckily my son pooped a huge one this morning. If your baby is formula fed, it can take.longer to digest.

I am sorry your little girl is having a rough time. I have gone through the same thing with my son. I would call your ped in the morning and see what they say. Until then do the exercises that twobecoetgree suggested. Warm baths also help. Do NOT give her the suppositories unless the dr tell you to!!! They can create more harm then good. With my son I ended up having to give him some pear or prune juice and when that wasn't working I had to put him on MiraLAX...Work close with the dr and everything will be fine. Best of luck!

I've had 2 children having my third. And my midwife that visited my home with both of my children has said it's normal for formula fed babies. As breast milk is digested quicker and absorbed into their bodies where as formula isn't.

Is she formula fed? Really don't stress over it, massage her lower abdomen with two fingers in a circular motion working in a clockwise direction following roughly where the bowels are, so starting on the left to right down then left then up ( like a spiral) if that makes sense. Could also grab her ankles and mover her legs like she is riding a bike and bringing the knees into her lower belly, also warm baths help. Ad she can sense you stressing so try not to stress over it

I have never heard that is normal. If she hasnt gone by tomorrow afternoon contact a doctor. But i woukd say you are fine until then. My son did the ssame thing and my midwife said if he hadnt gone by the next afteenoon we would discuss what that could mean. But like i said i dont rhink the other lady is correct about up to 14 days being normal.
