housework first trimester

Is is safe to do laundry and light housework in the first trimester? I know I am not supposed to do any heavy lifting.

My doc told me to go about my life as normal and the baby will be fine :)

I was a tile setter for the first 7 months of my first pregnancy. That means 50 lb bags of cement and constantly up and down.  I'm not saying it was the easiest but it made me feel good when I was told those precautions are for me not my baby.  I was already fit from the job but just keep doing what your doing.  Maybe dont lift what I did tho:-P.

Before i knewi was pregnant we went to the fair and when i see my cousins i pick them up to hug them and their 9 - 12 (i never see them) and even after i put wood in the wood shed i was causious about it just in case and i just had my first ultrasound and the baby is all good :) congrats :)

No need to be extra cautious, as long as you aren't on bedrest or have a history of miscarriage. I am a harpist and have been hauling my instrument around all through two pregnancies when hubby couldn't help. Just live a normal, healthy life :)

I think most things they tell u not to do are a precaution.... in my first trimester i was on roller coasters, mannual handling in my job as a carer, dancing the night away (not proud of my drinking, dancing and smoking but i didnt know i was pregnant and stopped it all as soon as i found out!). Ive either got one tough determind little lady in there or they tell u to slow down and stop doing things so they cant get sued!

Yup! Just keep the lifting and bending to a minimum and make sure you aren't using harsh chemicals.

Yes..i have done housework my entire pregnancy..even getting on hands and knees to scrub floors and i am 33 weeks pregnant.

Only way u shouldnt do it is if your dr puts you on strict bedrest
