itchy nipples!! *sorry if tmi* ;)

Im 16 weeks as of today. For the past week or so my nipples have been SO itchy! They've also started peeling and today i noticed even a little cracking :( i resist the urge to scratch them because it only makes them worse and even hurts!

First of all, is this a normal pregnancy symptom? And more importantly, any tips on how i can find some relief?!
Thanks for reading :)

This is my second baby, that happened with ne during my first pregnancy, it is normal. I just put lotion on them everyday. I use Olay ultra moisture, its the only kind I've used that has a long lasting moisturizing effect, its great. I used it in my first and this one. Has helped ne with stretch marks too.

I wouldn't worry. I am 31 weeks and mine have been doing that for about a month or so now. It is probably just another strange hormone issue. I also developed a heat rash last month and read that it is common when pregnant.

I have had painfully.itchy nipples when I started taking my thyroid medication last year but it has gotten even worse with pregnancy.  What I have found works well is extra strength vagisil cream the Up and Up brand from Target.  It has a bunch of vitamins and emollients and works great for me.If not I probably would have scratched them off by now.  Maybe try that if you want.
