kneeling during pregnancy

Hello everyone,

I am just now 12 weeks pregnant and for the past few weeks I have been feeling as if I would faint every time I kneel during church. Kneeling is not required but I like to as it adds to my experience. Each time I begin kneeling I feel fine and think it might not happen again, but then after a few minutes I feel faint again. So the questions are these. Should I just give up kneeling at all? Is kneeling while pregnant commonly seen as a bad thing? Should I be asking my doctor about this?  For any other Catholic pregnant ladies, what would you do? In other words, help!

It's very normal to feel faint or dizzy around where you are in your pregnancy. It's because of all the hormones and what not. The dizzy feeling should go away soon, and then you'll be okay. In the meantime I would try not to kneel down all the way. Or like Sofronia said, prop yourself up on something when kneeling.

I'm very sorry to have to say this but when I posted this question my baby had already passed away without me knowing. The doctor said at eleven weeks, which is about the time I had the symptoms. They continued until the miscarriage process was complete.  I'm sharing this because I don't know if the dizzyness was tip off or not. I only noticed the correlation after the fact and have not asked my doctor about it yet. In the future I will probably ask my doctor about anything strange all and would recommend anyone else in the same situation to do the same.

To be fair, I had fainting problems in church before pregnancy, but then it happened maybe once a year and I always knew how to avoide it by being hydrated, cool, and not too hungry. It is unavoidable now.

Hm... that is strange. I dont think kneeling should be that much of an issue. I would talk to your doctor just in case, but in the meantime maybe modify the kneeling a little? Try bringing a pillow with you to church and placing it under your knees, or leaning your bottom against the pew if you start feeling faint. Best of luck, and I hope it goes away for you soon.
