When did you other ladies stop working or plan to stop working? I wanted to work till my due date like I did with my son but I don't think that will happen. I've been having a lot of complications and I work 3rd shift 40hrs a week and no breaks for the 8 hr shift. I'm stumped on what to do.
I work 3rd shift at a gas station on the register or in the kitchen. The one co worker I have works opposite of what I do and we are constantly busy so no break possible. My manager is a jerk he yelled at me for leaving work early to go to the er.
im aware was just putting that fact out there. I know most will follow it but I do anywhere between 5-9 hr days with no breaks and my boss ignores my dr notes so there are a few that will ignore them. and I unfortunatly live in one of the states that dosnt require them to
Ktwone is right....and I'm taking mine Tuesday the 11th ..I too wanted to work up to my due date but my feet get so swollen and.my back and legs hurt so.bad from constantly bending and squatting that I was just physically not able to do it anymore :/........I'll be 35weeks then....I worked 9 hours a day with only a 30break.
Most managers will, to cover their self, if something were to happen to her or the baby when he/she didn't follow a doctor's orders, they're going to have some awful problems on their hands.
acctually there are still 6 states in the US that are not required to follow or even aknowledge dr notes but most managers will follow them anyway
You can also have your doctor write you a note saying you need a break every 2-4 hours, they can't say no to that!
every state has different labor laws but talk to ur doc about any regulations you should have. im currently planning on working till my 39th week but only because my fiance & I only have one car and our jobs are both 20 min from our home but in opposite directions. just talk to your doc and go with what your comfortable with.
I'm pretty sure you're legally obligated to get breaks during an 8 hour shift. Your doctor can provide medical advice about what's best for you and baby, if you should continue working or not. The other thing you're entitled to is FMLA leave (Family Medical Leave Act); they don't have to pay you for it but you are entitled to family leave.
