Oh thanks for the information guys. I took a test to tell me the weeks & it said 2-3. So I'm assuming 4-5 weeks. I just want to check on my baby.
And to clarify about the post above, we don't have an ob at our base, so I needed a referral. They send me bills for my Labs that say right on them that they do not need to be paid and are taken care of! Pregnancy and childbirth under tricare prime is 100% free unless you abuse something at the hospital (ie long distance phone calls on hospital phones, stealing from hospital, etc.)
I took a pregnancy test with a weeks estimater. The weeks estimater starts from implantation date and then you add two weeks. It was extremely accurate, but they couldn't tell me officially how far along I was until I had my ultrasound at 9 weeks.
Well that s u c k s. I'm not 100% how far along I am & I really would like to know.
It took about 4 weeks for me to get an off base referral because my base sent the wrong codes to my OBGYN. I knew who my doctor was after about a week and a half, I just had to wait to actually make an appt. I ended up seeing my OB at 7 weeks, and then again at 9 weeks to have my first ultrasound.
Personally it pissed me off because I felt like I waited FOREVER to see the OB. I took a home pregnancy test at 4 weeks and called the clinic the next day. They had me come in and do a blood test to confirm it, then prescribed me prenatal vitamins, then I played the waiting game. But I feel thats how everything is with the military, so Ive kind of just kind of accepted thats the way its gonna be with dealing with them.
Only time I had to pay was when I gave birth to my daughter..And only paid $40 bucks. 23 weeks pregnant with my son and haven't paid a dime!!!
I'm tricare standard (unavailable to active duty only family members) and I LOVE IT, I barely pay anything I don't need any referrals I can get an appointment next day. My only problem was getting an appointment with the OB that I researched, I absolutely hate tri-care prime I'll never go back. I can still use the military hospital for emergencys and I can still use the pharmacy for free meds.
I just read the above post about having to pay for lab results and stuff. I have yet to pay a penny. But that is because I am on tricare prime. So everything is paid for but I have to be seen on post by the doctor they provide me.. and I don't pay for the referrals either. As long as my doctor set it up as medically necessary
I'm in Texas, took me a day to get an appointment on post. I was 6 weeks along. As for getting a referral tricare will only cover your visits nothing else. Like labs and stuff are out of pocket. I had looked through the paperwork and asked so many questions about getting seen off post. I would definitely call tricare to confirm the information as we could have different coverage. Hope all work out!
They should go by how far along you are. I had to wait until I was around 10 weeks to get seen. Then after that I see her every 6 weeks. & I had to get a Referral to go to a specialist and it was done right away. So far I've had a good experience. I know I was irritated that I had to wait for my first appointment cause I wanted to make sure the baby was okay, but really there is no reason to go in early unless you know you are high risk.. like previous miscarriages and such
We are in nm, I have my first appt tomorrow, it took about 2 weeks to get the referral and then another 3 weeks to get an appt with the Dr.
On base is the worst. Third baby and I would never do on post. The military say family first but the ob does not make you a priority. Honestly
Base in Florida wont see you till your 12 weeks. And to be seen off base you have to get a referral and which to tri care prime. I got off base with both pregnanices. And I refuse to let our daughter to be seen on base!
It took me more than a month to have my first appt.
Are u seeing a dr on base? Do u have tri care?
