I had without Pitocin and they hurt the same as with to me. They all hurt. Epidural to the rescue for me!! Honestly, that made my labor so much better. But that was my experience. I found our I'm pretty wimpy in the process of labor. found out the hard way . . .
My sis in law had both her kids without meds after being on pitocin BC her water was leaking but she wasn't progressing. It is def not the prefered method if you want to labor naturally, but it's def possible
I had natural contractions and pitocin contractions - and you're right, pitocin contractions are much more intense.
If you don't want to get an epidural, it would be great if you could labor without pitocin.
I talked to my doctor and he said the way they will do it is to start the Pitocin, establish contractions, and then break my water. Im just wondering if I dilate with the cervidil the night before, if the Pitocin will be necessary. The reason I really don't want Pitocin is that I would like to labor as naturally as possible and I am worried the contractions will be too strong too quickly to mentally prepare myself for. I've read it makes them very intense and there isn't a gradual build up like natural contractions. Everyone is different, but by the majority of things I've read and heard are not pleasant because a lot of women just go with what the doctor wants. I know you cannot plan out your labor and delivery, but I do feel strongly about certain things and would like them to understand that.
When I was induced I was given pitocin hours before they broke my water. They wont break ur water first. They wait til ur dilated to a certain cm at least that's how they did me.
pitocin is main agent in induction it's the synthetic hormone that your body hasn't released so that your cervix could thin and open on its own and you can have those contraction to push baby out. there's no sub for it that I've heard of but they should have patient rights available for u to read good luck. I'm getting induced Tuesday if my little one doesn't come. I'm 3cm and 100%effaced
You need to talk to your doctor before being induced.
You can refuse anything unless its life or death situation thats your right
