it good to hear everything was easy my SIL has 3 kids 2 inductions and said the inductions were far harder her other child was 34 weeks so was smaller maybe thats why but induction means my home births out of the question

i was induced at 37 weeks with my daughter, everything turned out fine, very easy labor only pushed for 20 minutes in labor all together 6 hours, my dr has no problem inducing around 38 weeks if i am uncomfortable, which is nice to have the option

i think it would be great to know just when your baby will be born but i have been trying to have a home birth with every child the first they would not let me as she was my first second everything was planed then 2 days befor she was due they decided she was to big so i had to go to hospital she was born at 13:43 and we left the hospital at 17:05  then i lost a baby (m/c at home naturally) this time if i have to be induced that will be in hospital

this pregancy has not been that complicated they are only thinking about it becouse for my last babies size and she was face up they are of the opion that each baby tends to get bigger so they dont want to chance a bigger baby face up again as they also say that once one is face up it is more likly to happen again im not keen on the idear of epidural or any thing else dont like the idear for the chemicals in the different drugs thats another reason i dont really want to be induced

I was induced with my son. His due date was December 25th and we scheduled it for December 19th. My doctor told me early on that he wanted to induce because I was really fearful my husband would be out of town with work and I would go into labor alone. To set my mind at ease he told me about induction, but he stated he would only do it if my body had started to dialate naturally. Luckily for me, I was 2 centimeters dialated by Thanksgiving of that year and it was awesome. It was a controlled environment from start to finish.
I've since moved and had to find a new doctor. I'm pregnant with a little girl now and he was very open minded about inducing me, but he stated only a week in advance. I'm scheduled to be induced on August 6th. I love the idea of it because your under their care from start to finish...given that she "cooks" in there until then.

I have not had an induction... yet. I am schudled to be induced on Thursday June 19th. The only thing that I have heard that makes me nervous is that a induced labor can cause a more intense labor, but I was told just to make sure to let them know you (if you are using a epidural) that you want it as soon as you can get it.... Best of Luck and def. discuss with your obgyn what your options are. Have you had a complicated pregnancy?

i was actually induced with both of my kids!! My son was about 38 weeks, and that was because 1) I live 45 min. from the hospital. My doctor didn't want me to have to drive that long (my husband drive) being in labor and in pain. and 2) because my daughter was 8lbs 3oz and my Dr. said if my son was bigger than that he wouldn't fit. (mind you my husband is 6'5''.....HUGE) lol. But anyways.....the only con that I have for getting induced is that a can take a little bit longer than going into "natural" labor. From induction to delivery with my daughter it was 16 hours, which is REALLY good for first timers. And from induction to delivery with my son, it was 13 hours. So thats the only con I really have on that. I had 2 very successful deliverys and somewhat pleasant (if you can say that about deliverys lol) So, you really shouldnt worry. Your baby is developed at 38 weeks.....and if your dr. didnt think the baby would be ready, she wouldnt risk the birth and would just give you a c-section if the baby was too big. So don't worry, everything will work out!!! Best of Luck to you....and ENJOY!!!

Neasyc, I can't give you any experience with induction. But my doctor told me after the birth of my youngest that she wants to do a c-section with me next time. She told me this while I was in the hospital, after delivery, and I was upset about it.

Later, at my 6-week postpartum checkup, she revised her statement to "I want to induce future pregnancies at 38 weeks" instead of c-sec. I was relieved because I'd rather be induced and given a chance to give birth vaginally.

The reason she wants to do that is because my daughter broke her collarbone during birth because her arm was crossed over to her shoulder (just the position caused it to snap on her way out). She was also 8 1/2 lbs and my doc worries about larger babies.

So I think induction over c-sec is a great idea becuase then you won't have the after-surgery issues to deal with along with having a newborn.

i was induced with my daughter. she was 9 days overdue, and she was 9lbs 1oz when she was born.  they gave me the gel 3 times in one day and it didnt appear to be working at all, so they sent me home. i started have contractions the next morning and they continued for 3 days. i went into the hospital and had my daughter the following morning!
my doctor is thinking of inducing me as well this time around, he thinks this baby might be a big one... AGAIN!!

I was induced for my first 2 children...

My edd for my daughter was July 19th, and I was induced on June 25th due to the dr. thinking she had stopped growing...they thought she would only weigh around 3 lbs. but she was actually 6lbs.4oz.

My edd for my son was June 26th and I was scheduled to be induced on June 18th...I went in for my regular ob appt. on June 10th and I was losing fluid, so they did an induction that day.

Both babies were fine and there were no complications...my dr. plans to induce me for this one too at about 37.5 weeks if I make it that long on my own.

i too was induced and at the time it sucked but it went quite well.. I was a week overdue and my BP was high and it was time for him to get out.. He was 6lbs 15oz...it took from the pitocin-birth 7h46 mins approx...but they broke my water at 12pm and nothing happened...I got the pitocin at 4ish and by 445-5 my contractions were lasting 55 seconds and 5 seconds in between if that makes sense.. at 830 i finally got the epi.. I was 3cm 75%(I was 2cm 50% the week prior/same the morning of before they broke my water) 910 the epi was fully in work and 11 i was fully dilated.. 1120 i started small pushes and 1140 onto the delivery room we were and 1146 he was born.. so.. it sucked but it was worth it.. i would have liked to have gone through labour on my own but for some of us thats not our luxury i guess:)

I was induced by choice with my 4th.  I just wanted to make sure that my doc was the one that delivered her.  I liked it because I was able to know what to expect and when to expect it.  So, I was able to plan.  But I also like the element of surprise.  My 5th was scheduled to be induced for the same reason but she decided to make an entrance on her own the day before my scheduled induction.

I was induced but it was only a couple of days before my due date. I had a great labor and delivery. I chose to be induced so that my mom could make it and help  coach me.
