repellents during pregnancy! imp!

am almost 33 weeks pregnant and i live in an area where there are a lot of mosquitoes possessing malaria and dengue virus. i am really scared to get caught in any such dangerous disease specially right now when i am pregnant. can i use a mosquito repellent as Ive heard a lot about DEET being harmful for unborn babies. i have been using avon skin so soft repellent for 2 days now as i heard its DEET free , but still i thought I'll ask if u guys think avon skin so soft repellent is okay to use on my whole body on a daily basis. i don't want to put my baby's health on any kind of risk.

Avon is fine.  Just to be safe I wouldnt use DEET but I am a worrier.  Besides the Avon smells much better than the OFF and deep woods brands, lol.  Good luck to you.

There are vitamin B patches that you can find that are supposed to be effective and safe as a repellant!

Avon is fine to use. Studies have shown that products containing DEET are safe when used as recommended. The only studies showing it was unsafe is when they used a much larger dose in animals studies than a human would. "There is no evidence that the use of DEET by pregnant or lactating women poses a health hazard to unborn babies or children who are breast-feeding" is from one study done.
