I smoked til 14 weeks with my first- she's perfectly healthy, high birth weight, no asthma, or lung problems... I am currently a little over 12 weeks now and smoke one or two a day but plan on stopping by 14 weeks again. I couldn't do it cold turkey, I have to slowly ease off of the nicotine!!! But I do advise quitting ASAP!!! I'm trying my hardest.

Not all babies have lasting effects from the mother smoking, but no matter if they have a permanent problem or not when smoking while pregnant it constricts your blood vessels and YOUR UMBILICAL cord not allowing the proper amount of oxygen and nutrients to your baby. That is a fact, its not like that happens to only some babies, its every baby every pregnancy with anyone who smokes. So that is what made my mother strong enough to quit smoking with 3 pregnancies, she stopped a couple months before she fell pregnant because they were TTC. It's what COULD happen that matters, not what didn't happen to a friends pregnancy and baby. Stay strong all you mommies who are quitting!

I know people who smoked with everyone of thei pregnancies and their children were fine and thats what they said through every pregnancy, "well i smoked with so and so and they r just fine" but what is smoking worth? There is always a chance it could really hurt your baby. Would you really want something to happen to them knowing you could have prevented it? Its hard i know but def worth kicking the habbit

I quit with both of my pregnancies but to me it was always easy to do it. If it stresses u to much the doctor will not advice to quit cold turkey but cut back a little every day until quit completely. I know its hard but well worth it. Good luck.

I smoked alot until i found out i was pregnant, i was already 19 weeks when i found out. I stopped that day (it was not easy... i felt like killing a few people) my midwife said i did the right thing in stopping and that baby would not be harmed :)
