sperm living longer than norm?

My last period was June 27th. My bf and I had sex July 2nd. So my ovulation days would be between July 8th through July 12th. I have read the maximum number of days a sperm can live inside a women's body is 5 days, which would put my bf's sperm dead or gone by the 7th, which is the latest. We had sex 2 Weeks after July 2nd, which was way past my ovulation dates. I just missed my period by 4 days and I am always regular. I already have 2 kids so I know my body like a book. If I am pregnant I would be 4 wks & 4days. So my question is, is it really possible for sperm to live inside a women's body for over 5 days, especially with deep penetration?

On a side note, I will definitely know if I am pregnant or not next Friday, Aug 3rd, for I am going in for an ultrasound.

Generally only during ovulation is it deemed perfect because the mucous, hormones, etc etc. it's worth noting there's 'never' a safe time for unprotected sex unless you have no reproductive organs or know exactly when you ovulate by a doctor or various charting methods.

I have not heard of it living for 7 days....and for it to be a perfect environment would be crazy. Our bodies go through so much every month I wouldnt consider mine to b any where near perfect.

That's exactly would've been my second guess. But I was going by the whole 14 day rule of conception. It doesnt seem to amaze me only because my first was conceived around the 6th and my second was around the 10th....so with that being said I thought I was in the clear and not worry about becoming pregnant.

I wouldn't say that sperm can live longer than five days. However i could believe that your ovulation could of been closer to the first time you had sex. I've heard of that. Goodluck. Now that i look back i actually conceived 8 days after my period.
