strep b

I found out today that I have strep b, I always read of women saying that they have it and doctors tell them they will put them on antibiotics thru   the iv while in labor so that the baby don't get it, mine told me the same thing too, and that it was normal in pregnancy and that people have it without knowing, but I feel so bad and sad and it really hurts me.

I was tested at 36 wks and had my results the following week. It's also possible to test positive with one pregnancy and negative the next. I was positive with my first pregnancy, I don't remember what it was last time but this time I'm negative.

My doctor will test at 36-38 weeks. You get the results the next business day I believe and the results are good for 4 weeks.

When do they usually test for this? How long until you get results back from test?

It's a bacteria that the body produces, comes and go by itself you might not even know you have it has no real symptoms,I know I didn't cause it but it's scary

I'm gbs+ too. I found out very early in pregnancy. At about 7w. It's nothing to stress about. You just have to get IV antibiotics during Labour.

It's an infection that they do a vaginal swab to test for.

I found out at 33 weeks that I had strep b and they said everything will be fine aslong as you get atleast one dose of antibiotics in 4 hours, I'm now 38 weeks 5 days x

Its normal. Try not to stress. You have like a 1-4000 chance of your baby getting it if you have the IV.its not as big of a deal as people think. Everything will be fine
