Oh I already informed my boyfriend that the day I give birth I am not eating the hospital food that he is getting me sushi. After 9 months without AND labor I'm going to deserve it! :)
i love sushi! giving it up will be so hard. between cycles when i know i'm not pg i pig out. between ovulation and my period i have been eatting avocado rolls just in case...but it's just not the same! just think how yummy a big sushi feast will taste after 9 months without! :-)
your advice is really good. thanks!
Yeah, that is how I was, I did that a few times (missed out on dinners and partys). I was bummed out living my life by every two weeks. It took us a while to get pregnant and I had a miscarriage too.
But honestly, usually before you find out your prego the baby hasnt established a good blood supply into your system. And many people drink, do drugs and crazy stuff before they found out.....dont reccomend that but many people do it. But if you do everything in moderation you should be fine, once you find out for sure then be really strict with everything.
tapeworm ???????? OMG!!!!!!
okay, i think that did it for me! definitely no sushi for me! and no sake, of course! *grin*
ya, but don't we even get like a "grace period" of when we can still eat that stuff? i didn't know about the shrimp thing. gosh, there are a lot of rules. if i end up not being pregnant, i'm going to be pissed for missing out on a sushi dinner tonight.. hahah..
Haha, I did the same thing when I was trying, once I found out I wasnt prego. I ate and drank the pain away! I am now pregnant and I have had an occasional california roll. But I actually looked up why sushi is bad and all I found is that it may contain a "tape" like worm that when you have a lower immune system can affect the moms nutrition, but will not pass to the baby. So who knows, they also said the chances of getting the worm is really rare anyway. But better safe than sorry. I also dont eat deli meats or unpasterized cheese, so I am kind anal on the rules!
Oh I know what you mean. I love sushi and fish in general (doesn't help that my boyfriends family own a fish company) I hate not being able to eat it. In fact I accidently ate 32 ounces of shrimp this past weekend (you're only allowed to have 12 ounces a week when pregnant) and completely freaked out. But they are so good.
hmm.. maybe i should take a pee test right before we go eat. if it's negative, then i'll splurge and drown out my misery... hahah.. you're absolutely right tho... man, giving up on raw fish is going to be sooooo hard! *grin*
If you think you are pregnant DO NOT eat sushi. You're supposed to limit how much fish you eat when you are pregnant and some fishes you can't even eat at all due to their mercury levels and raw fish is definantly out of the questions. If your going to go to a sushi bar try california rolls or something that has fake meat or cooked meat.
