You can do things on a normal basis .... And induce labor without the intention too...baby's can survive way before 37 weeks, anything can happen. Your body is in control ..... The baby is just in it for the ride. You're momma so do what you gotta do.... Either way baby will come. Now or later. Induced naturally or not. You or the doctor. :)

People like you need to stop worrying about me lol its my own opinion does this app say i cant say anything, you have your own opinion and i have mine point blank bye !, and my comment wasnt rude it was simply saying dont try to induce your self if your dr hadsnt yet or said anything to you. Theres alot of women that would do anything to keep their baby up to 39 or 40 weeks just be blessed your 39 weeks, another week or couple days wont hurt to wait for your baby to come !!

Lexii it's people like you who shouldn't be allowed on this app. I get you have an opinion, but if you plan to be RUDE with it keep it to YOURSELF. Melzi, I don't think you're being selfish because even if you're walking and taking baths and drinking tea, it will only help you dilate & thin. Not go straight into active labor. I'm 39 weeks and have also been bouncing on my excerise ball and walking. About 2 1/2 weeks ago my baby was estimated to weigh 7 lbs 8 ounces. I was 50% effaced and only 1/2 cm dilated. Ive retained so much water that I now have gained over 70 lbs. so I know exactly how you feel. I heard sex, spicy foods, walking and bouncing on a yoga ball will help get you ready. Good luck!

Best advice I can give is to walk. I was 3cm and 50% effaced Tuesday at my appointment, the two weeks prior when checked I was between 1/2cm-1cm dilated. Within that week I had done a lot of walking in stores for Christmas shopping. Well I walked around getting the rest of holiday shopping done throughout the day after my appointment on Tuesday and my water broke at 4:17am on Wednesday morning! Had my son 12-24-14 At 7:01pm. Pushed his little 8lb 19in butt out in 19 minutes. So I recommend walking. :) If your body isn't ready, then nothing will work. I don't recommend castor oil. Can cause you to have diarrhea and get dehydrated which can cause contractions that have no cervical change. It happens when you're least expecting it! I gave up trying to self induce. I only tried nipple stimulation, that OJ and milk drink, and squats. When you just throw your hands up and realize it's up to your body, things happen ;) there is a quote that goes something along the lines of "good things happen when you least expect it" Good luck momma! And all the above ladies, even the negative ones, good luck throughout the remainder of your pregnancies! :)

You're actually told to walk for at least 20-30 minutes a day during pregnancy...so just because it induces labor the closer you get to piping it's all of a sudden selfish and you shouldn't do it? You ladies seriously have your priorities messed up...just don't comment and judge someone that's looking for advice. Seriously.

Really? I'm being induced TOMORROW if my little one doesn't show up before then. My doc gave me the go ahead at 37 weeks to try inducing because, whether I pop before tomorrow or not, I'm being induced. I'm only a day away from 38 weeks. Also, how do you know she isn't going to be induced? She already said she would rather jump start labor with natural remedies than with drugs or chemicals. Last time I checked, walking and having sex were completely natural actions, even if you weren't/aren't pregnant.

It's only selfish if it will harm the child. You could say every woman who receives any pain meds are selfish as well. Ms. April it's funny how you were asking ppl not to pass judgment on your situation a month ago, but here you are being negative.

If you don't have anything supportive to say then don't comment on someone's post! We are supposed to help each other out and be there for one another not be rude and unnecessary. Doing these things at home rather then going in and getting all that medicine to be medically induced seems like a more comfortable way for you and the baby. I have also heard nipple stimulation helps a lot!

Apparently you havent seen the other posts lately so ill inform you, theres been many posts like these & mostly every comment were girls saying its selfish to do that to a baby & it is. she knew she was gonna get comments like this because it is unnecessary to do that. I dont have a Facebook but you can go hop on it & yeah yet your doc hasn't gave you anything to induce you obviously because your baby is growing still. Its selfish point blank.

Yes a natural way is much better than chemicals!! Also after 37w you are considered full term so naturally inducing labor would be fine!! Plus baby had a higher chance to poo the after 37w... it's rare but still a risk

I'd rather try to start labor with natural remedies than start it by chemicals/meds at the hospital

And melzie182, try dancing or sitting on a yoga ball and bouncing. I've heard this helps. Also, try nipple stimulation.

Or you guys could not judge her and not give her negativity like you are. Pretty sure she didn't post this for judgement. After all, this is a SUPPORT SITE. You want negativity, get on Facebook right now and check that stuff out.

Your basically trying to force your baby out so yes she is being selfish, no MATTER how far you are, your baby is still growing why do that ? Its unnecessary. If your dr has not induced you them self then dont do it your self!

And your not being selfish for trying things when you are 39 weeks. I did eat some pineapple I'm not sure if it helped or not though.

It's up to your body not the baby..... do. Whatever you want, I'm drinking raspberry leaf tea.. I think the most effective way is being physically active. I get swollen hands and feet when I walk, but The tea has helped my muscle attachments not be so sore. As far as contractions.... I don't get many ..... Well I do. I get stomach tightening a lot. I'm not a fan of baths. But I'm definitely ready for baby. :) oh and I been eating pineapple

How far along are you? I've been walking a lot and I'm 2 1/2 centimeters dilated now and 50% effaced I think that's the word for it. All I have been doing is walking and having sex with my husband.
