weekly appointments

I go weekly to the doctor now i'm 37 Weeks they checked me last week for dialation and there was none just the cervix softening. My question is are they going to check weekly? Or everyother week? I know every doctor is different but just wondering.

Also...some one said "Why would you go just to get your stomach measured...

That isn't all they are doing at those appointments I hope! They should be checking your urine, blood pressure, swelling and general well being. Those simple things can indicate major problems and that is why they want to see you.

By the way...I went into labor at 37 weeks and he was my first. So stay on your toes! It can happen early!

I didn't want to be checked because it doesn't indicate when you will go into labor or how long your labor will be. I didn't want that messing with my head. In fact when they finally checked me when I was in actual labor I was only a 1 after 8 hours of active labor...but I went to 10 after 4 more hours and he was born.

I went last week. I'm 37 weeks. They said they normally don't start checking until 38 weeks, but he will if I want him to. So all drs are different. And as for going just to be measured....that's pretty much all they do at my appts is measure my belly and listen to the heart beat.

I never heard of if u want they will. They do it anyways u shouldn't have to ask other wise ur stomach would just b getting measured who would go just for that.

My midwife asked starting at 35 or 36 weeks if I wanted her to check and I said YEAH....I was so curious. I don't know anyone who wouldn't want to be checked so see if any progress has been made!
They will prob check you each time now.

I will be 37 weeks this wednesday, and my doctor checked my cervix last week and she said I will have an appointment each week until I am no longer pregnant. She also said that she will check my cervix each time I come in to check to see if it's still closed or not since I am getting closer to the due date. Also since this is my first pregnancy, she said sometimes women can go into early labor or go past their due date.

My Dr asked each time if i wanted her to check or not... im sure whatever you want they will do...
