28 weeks...too soon??

My birthday is next week, and my friends wants to celebrate it together with a babyshower, I will be 28 weeks 2 days, is it too soon to have a baby shower? My husband is scared, because his mother told him not to allow gifts nor buy anything before baby is born, because we'll jinx it! I truly don't believe that, I only trust in God, and I know that everything will be just fine!

I don't believe it's too soon. Like rprible said it will give you plenty of time, plus you will still have energy, to Organize and determine what you still need. It is going to be overwhelming if you wait until the baby arrives to start getting things. There will be so much going on plus so many changes in your life at this time that the more preparing you can do the better! Especially if it's your 1st.

I don't think it's soon! Especially if your friends are planning it! I wish I was having mine earlier but I won't have mine until 35 weeks. Better to have it while you still have time and energy to look at what you received, organize, and decide what else you need or would like in the first couple weeks of the baby's life. And neatly store things for later in the baby's life.
