Great advice on the Tennis ball I'll try that as well
I would love to get a massage Leigh but given my crazy schedule (work, and 4kids with gymnastics and baseball) I won't have time until after I have this baby! I'll try the tennis ball trick though. It sounds wonderful!
I'm 14w 2 days with baby #2... I was by the book with HALF of my 1st pregnancy. I made sure I slept on my left side, I used a body pillow..... and I always woke up on my back. I finally said forget the side! And just slept on my back. Didn't hurt anyone and the baby was fine! As for the sciatic.... I am a licensed massage therapist and I recommend to my clients to get a pregnancy massage once a month. And if your sciatic pain happens again within that month, lay on your bed, take a tennis ball and put it under your glutes where the pain is and roll on the ball. It works wonders!!! Good luck ladies!
They say left side cuz they "think" it promotes the best blood flow and it takes the most pressure off ur liver but left or right perfectly fine
As long as you don't sleep on ur back, ur fine.
I just recently asked my ob if it's okay to sleep on the right side because I get more comfy that way all of a sudden and they said yes any side is fine just no laying on my back.
My Dr told me it doesn't matter what side I sleep on.. He said the whole left side thing isn't something to worry about. And if you wake up on your back it is your body telling you to adjust. So if you can sleep do it! I switch all night long back and forth cuz my hips start to hurt if I'm on 1 side to long.
I miss sleeping on my belly ' that's my preference as well
I sleep on my right as well. Left is uncomfortable... usually I sleep on my stomach but can't now hah bc I'm huge. My daughter kicks more when I'm on my right too.
Oh yes the good ol sciatic!! That's what's bugging my right (tmi) butt cheek a lot to . Chiroprating slides help a lot but being preggers it comes back do to the weight on the sciatic nerves!! Sleep is definitely important to have now but yup feels like no matter how hard I try to tire myself out during the day those are the nights that are the toughest for me to sleep.. At this far in the pregnancy it's kinda normal! Not very welcoming but hey the naps I'm going to have are nice to with my daughter tomorrow
My back had been messed up since my hospital stay Thursday night. I slept on my left side there and ever since the sciatic nerve pain had been relentless, especially when I sleep because baby is so active. So anyway, I'm with you on the sleepless night thing :(
Thank you ladies feeling like it could be a sleepless night for me again tonight anyway lol
Lol well any other time I don't mind it but definitely would like to sleep without being jabbed every few min..
I had been told by docs and read that the reason for needing to sleep on the left side is to prevent a main artery from being cut off and to help keep good blood and air flow for baby and myself.. But honestly I feel better air flow for myself anyway on the right side.my prenatal doc I remember asking in
My first pregnancy and he seemed to not agree with the "only sleep on your left side" theory.. I may have to ask him again..
As if it isn't bad enough at night time Creating2miracles!
Isis1515 I have also felt that baby moves and kicks way more if I'm on my left side as well!!
My doc gave me a recent book that mentioned this. You can sleep on the right or left. There is no difference. Doctors got used to telling women to sleep on their left because it is more comfortable for the majority of them.
I sleep on my right side my dr said it was fine i cant sleep on left side my hip starts hurting
As long as you are side sleeping you are fine. Truthfully I am way more comfortable in my right side too. I spend part of the night on my left but my baby tends to kick my left hip bone when I lay on my left side and I also experience sciatica when I sleep on my left more. I hate having those nerve pangs while I am trying to sleep!
That's how I thought. But I kinda feel bad since I was so strict with staying on the left side all the way through my first pregnancy..
if you can sleep - do it!
