i feel the same way.. as horrible as that test is.. i would never refuse.. just incase i did have it.. this time around i didnt pass by 4 pts.. they also tested me 15 min early which i was upset about but i took it anyway .. better be safe..
This makes me feel so much better. I failed my 1 hr as well (I was 141) and just did my 3hr test today. Still waiting on results. I was also just told that I'm borderline hypertensive and borderline anemic so I'm really hoping to pass this one. I recommend bringing something to eat as soon as the test is done. I was pretty shaky by then.
Don't worry too much. I heard a good amount of people fail the 1 hr and end up passing the 3 hr. I am one of them. My sugar level was well above the limit for the 1 hr. I didn't do anything different for the 3 hr as far as food intake. Just go in there and take that test and wait. I stressed a lot over it too but there's not much you should do besides knowing that you should eat healthy for the baby. Also, if you truly have GD you should be treated for it because that will put your baby in danger.
I failed the 1h glucose test and told dr I wasn't going to do the 3h one. After much debating and searching for alternatives, I decided to have the 2h one, which is just one blood draw. You have to take 75grams of glucose and then get blood drawn and that's it. Doctor said is the only alternative approved by the American diabetes association
Just got a call from the Dr and I am scheduled for my 3 hour glucose test tomorrow morning! Prayers would be very much appreciated!!!
Thank you so much that makes me feel better! When I think of diabetes I think of being overweight and my doctor doesn't think I have gained an excessive amount but I can't help but think this is my fault! I appreciate all your advice! :)
i hope you all pass it. but just from someone who has had gd of course it was not the worse since i didn't need medication.. if you end up having it know that its not your fault its not because you were eating the wrong stuff.. its because your body is not producing enough insulin for you and your baby.. and your body naturally gives your baby what he/she needs first.
my sister in-law didn't get gd with her first two pregnancies developed it with her 3rd and had to take pills.. her baby was perfectly healthy and was not so big wither..
Same here she said they like to keep it 140 or under and mine was 188! So scary! Good luck to you!
I failed my one hour test. The cutoff for my doctor's office is 140 and my reading was 184. I do my 3 hour test Wednesday and I'm nervous.
Thank you! I'm really hoping I pass the 3 hour!
well first of all depending on how high your numbers are. some people may have to take insulin shots and others pills, i however did not have to do either of those.. it sounds scary i know i went through that with my first when i was just 18. so since mine was not so high.. it must of just been border line they give you a little checker .. you prick your finger put a drop of blood on the little tester and it reads you your numbers.. that's what i had to do throughout the end of my pregnancy..( checking my levels after each meal. and in the morning before you eat) i was also told that due to the gd my baby would be bigger.. which she wasn't. the dr told me towards the end that she was going to be 9 lb.. she was only 5 lbs
What do they do if you do end of having GD? :/
Besides the fading thing I've never done anything..I had gd with my first bit not with my second and passed my 3hr one.
