hey there. I'm going on 35 weeks and we just began purchasing items this past weekend. it's stressful. my fiance and i have been pushed to all types of limits with our finances.  i relocated back in Feb and don't really have a network but thankfully my job threw me a baby shower - no major items but definitely stuff we don't have to worry about. this is our second child, so I'm learning to be VERY PRACTICAL. it's still hard, since i want him to have everything but honestly the essentials will have to do and splurge when we can. we have been purchasing diapers nearly every pay period since second trimester to lessen our ongoing costs while I'm on maternity leave. it's never too early for diapers.

If it were me I'd talk to the host of my baby shower and ask them to ask the guest, instead of actual gifts, if they could give gift cards (preferably to Walmart). This way, since things are tight, you could always get a couple of groceries- if need be. With gift cards you can get whatever you want and need and they never expire. Or, if you want a monetary shower where your guest only bring money? Also, we're signed up with Sam's Club ($45 yearly fee) and buy in bulk (i.e. 900 wipes for $18). Good luck and best wishes!

Don't worry I know its hard to do im 31 weeks also and have nothing. Just a couple outfits im not even having a baby shower. I know my family will get some stuff like my dad is getting the car seat and stroller. However my husband is not working at the moment and having a hard time finding work. Im still working full time but my checks are covering bills. Then medical bills are starting to pile up. I've just decided to max out a credit card and get the things she needs. Somedays im so stressed about it but its really not good for me and the baby so I just pray and hope for the best. I know in the end it will work out. I wish u well and will pray for u also.

I'm only 15 weeks and started stocking up on everything I could whenever I saw a sale. I don't know the gender yet but got a huge bag of neutral clothes from a second hand store for 40 dollars.  Have also gotten a lot of great deals on craigslist. I got a baby bath a swing a bouncer a jumperoo and a travel high chair for 80. Also check burlington coat factory. They have a huge baby depot and I got a 400 crib on clearance there last week for 100. Hope some of this helps you.  Best of luck to you and your family

Yea wipes and diapers are good to have now. Hopefully you get enough clothes and other supplies you'll need at your baby shower. Have you tried looking into used items!? Or does your insurance offer free strollers, pack n plays, or car seats? Look into that my state has a program where u attend a class and get free stuff if you need it
