Well the same thing happened to me, I went over to my first appointment thinking that I was around 8 weeks and results that I was only 6.Dr told me that I ovulated later. They did and gave me the ultrasound picture it looks like the sac buy I could see the heart beat, didn't heard. I went back 3 weeks later and I was 9weeks 3 days and I did heard  the heart beat this time. The ultrasound was so much better.:)so don't worry it will be a better ultrasound next time you go. At first I was a little disappointed but I got over it. Congrats and good luck.!!

It's normal. 5w is very early, there really is no "baby" to see. At 6w mine was a black spec. It's much better at 10w. Hearing the heartbeat is a good thing!
