6 weeks

Does anyone else find it odd or insensitive that you can't go to the doctor to confirm pregnancy? This is my first time. I have tons of questions. Was told by 3 places they can't see or hear anything so schedule first appointment weeks out. They claim they give the exact same tests we buy in drug stores. I have to wait awhile to go. Just anxious. I rather not Google information. I take Zyrtec year round, I obviously want to confirm that is okay and get answers to so many more questions.

After I took 3 home tests I went to my primary care Dr to have it confirmed with a quick blood test. She told me that zyrtech was safe to take for my allergies. Then I called the ob office and they scheduled me in at 8 weeks. They weighed me, took blood, had me pee in a cup, and I got an ultrasound. It was with the wand done vaginally. Got to see baby and hear the heart beat. Then talked with Dr about taking prenatal vitamins, what was safe to eat not eat, do, those kinds of things. Then he had me coming every 4 weeks up until 30 weeks, then went every 2 weeks and at 37 weeks started every week.

I assume so they just always rush. Thank you all!!!  I love coffee. Is Decaf 100% okay? I think Zyrtec for allergies is fine because it is rated B. I am hoping to call later today! Crazy you just go off of positive home tests until weeks later. Anxious!

8 weeks!? My obgyn doesn't do a first appointment until 13 weeks UNLESS I have problems like severe morning sickness. But the nurse call line is always available to answer questions. Does your doctor have something like that?

Its the normal, it caught me off gaurd with my first. In my experience the place you book your appt with will answer any questions you have. I had different medications this time that my first and they answered prior to my first appt. Also don't get your hopes up for an ultrasound right off. With my first they did several, now a different office they only offer the 20week ultrasound. Which I have discovered is the new normal in my state.

Now I on the other hand took two pregnancy test ...one was positive and one was negative .. I was having a few cramps and my period hadn't came yet so I went to the emergency room out of worry ...they confirmed my pregnancy right then and there and sent me down to ultrasound and I believe I was around 7 weeks at that time

At your next appointment they will give u a pregnancy test to confirm your pregnancy and usually the test they use are the same ones u get at your local dollar store ...they prescribe prenatals and give u an ultrasound to confirm about how far along u really are and that's pretty much it then they give u your next prenatal appointment which will be scheduled about 3 weeks from that visit...

Thanks. I know. I was just caught off guard because I had no idea what to expect. Do you know what will happen at the 8week appointment?

It's not odd or insensitive, it's common practice. Where I'm from, you don't go to the doctor til your about 8 weeks or so. It's just the way it is in some places.

Yeah I know but all 3 reputable places said that's not the process. I just go at 8 weeks. Any advice for me? I feel zero symptoms. Worried about Zyrtec but it's rated category B which is good
