What am I doing wrong???

I'm not doing anything wrong..it just feels like it. Friday I was in an active labor pattern for 4 hours and it just stopped....frustrating. So this afternoon, it starts up again...only like 1000 times worse than before. After about 2 1/2 hours, I call in because it's just not going away. I fit the criteria for the 5 1 1 rule (and then some). I am told that since this is my first, it's going to take forever and I should stay at home as long as I can before coming in. Again about that 4 hour mark, it starts to lesson in intensity. It's still there, but nowhere near where it was earlier tonight. I feel like I am a failure because I start active labor, and can't continue it. I'm doing EVERYTHING that is possible to keep it going. I sat on my ball and bounced, did my hip wiggle, had hubby help me by pushing on my hips, and just got back from walking inside Fred Meyers (for those not near one..it's kinda like a super Wal Mart). I'm feeling like a failure at trying to become a mom.

My Baby Was 13 Days Late. She Is My First But My Labor Was Only 8 Hours. Just Because This Is Your First Doesn't Mean It Will Take Forever. Obviously Mine Didn't. Just Rest And When The Time Is Right You're Baby Will come. You Can Try nipple Stimulation Our Try suppressing Some Milk Out. It May Help.

Do you qualify for wic? They will give you one. I had to buy mine because we can't get any help but found a good coupon on line and a gift card from a baby shower.

Just a side note, but if you have insurance check with them about covering the cost of your breastpump. Most insurance companies now cover these because of the affordable Care act.

I'm not sure I could handle sex...still residual pain and little contractions. And I don't have a breast pump. Couldn't afford one. Money is super tight. I am trying to rest. I called into my dr office and vented to one of the nurses this morning and she told me that I am logical and not acting hormonally (which was part of my fear) and said instead of calling in to triage (L&D), to just go in. Worse case scenario they send me home. Yes I am 30 min away, but then at least we know exactly where we are at that point in time..plus reminded me that I am high risk and due to a fibroid, that could burst and be massive blood loss, so I'd be better off in triage than at home. So....that's my plan....if I have another of these 'practice' active labor sessions, once I establish that nothing else is going on and it IS active, I am going in.....no calling. Thanks everyone for the positive comments. Beyond my nurses in the office, you ladies and my hubby have been my sanity  (which includes all the ladies in the maternity ward group as well).

Definitely rest if you can and do your best (its hard) not to stress about it. You're about to be totally exhausted and what seems like is taking forever will blow right by! All my labors take a while, but as soon as the baby's out, it feels like minutes. Good luck and keep us posted!

have you tried having sex? Or if you are planning to breastfeed do you have a breast pump? I've spoken to other ladies who have said that pumping can jumpstart labor? I know it must be irritating you must be dying to meet your little one:/

Sounds like baby is trying to control the shots lol your little one will be here soon, just walk as much as you can, I've heard the best walking you can do is where there are constant inclines, almost like walking up a mountain/hills.
