Have my babies naturally without any medical intervention, i exclusively breast feed. I tried to do both with my last little one but she didn't want it. Mommy's pure natural milk was more than enough for her and some. She didn't want that artificial stuff making her gassy and colicky. Unless u have to give them formula for a specific reason, breast is always the best.
Baby's stomach is really really tiny at first - not even an ounce at first. Even those first few days when all there is available is a little bit of colostrum - that's plenty for baby. The more you nurse the faster your milk comes in - and the more you nurse the more your body will make.
There are studies showing that medications during childbirth especially epidural or spinal anesthesia can delay milk production. If you can avoid it, it's a good idea - though needing a c-section or medication certainly doesn't mean someone can't breastfeed successfully it just means the start might be a little rockier. I have a friend who had an emergency c-section and is still nursing her son at 3 years old - so proud of her :-)
The colostrum you produce is more than enough for the baby in those first couple days before your milk comes in. The more you pop bub on the boob the more it stimulates your supply.
You can also get herbal supplements and make breastfeeding cookies. You have to make sure you stay nourished and hydrated yourself.
Introducing formula can impact on your supply as well.
You'll have enough. The more you put him to the breast the more it will stimulate milk production.
